Reports

Post by RalphM »

I tried today to create a file list and export it to my Word template (see http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?t=234), but this time the list had a VF set. If I use "Current list" I get all the visible columns which is not what I want, and if I use "Current folder" the VF settings are not used.
Would there be a way to either add a checkbox on the "Current folder" pane, to put only the visible files into the report, or add the checkboxes for the format from the "Current folder" pane on the "Current list" pane as well?

All I need is a way to get a "dir"-like report from the current list.
Ralph :)

I know it's not what you asked, but. Current List does a report with exactly what's shown on List, that is it takes into account VF, Sizes for folders if you Calculated Folder Sizes, sort order, etc
This does include columns, so if you hide/show some only for your reports, they'll be there. After that you can restore your user default column settings.

Looking at it like that, I would say
- You can't really change Current Folder, or else it wouldn't be the current folder anymore!
- You can't really change Current List, or else it wouldn't reflect the current list anymore!

So we're screwed! ;) But actually, having a way for Current Folder reports to either work on selected items only, or take into account the VF, could be a solution that would still make sense, I believe.

I see the point, but it is not possible unless:
(a) I have a lot to do, OR
(b) I do something very dirty.

Well...

Thanks for that tip Jacky, had forgotten that feature completely.
But even with that it's a lot of work to set up the view to resemble a "dir" result.
Maybe being able to switch between different column settings would make it easier, unless Don decides to do (a) or (b).
