Column widths and positions

Post by retiredfields »

Boy, I am feeling dumb. I have autosize columns turned off. I only use three columns for all my drive and folder views....name, size, modified.

I set the column widths and positions I want and then save the configuration. When I change drives or from one viewing pane to the other, my column sizes and positions keep changing. I've even tried turning folder views on and making the view I want as default, but no luck. Column sizes and positions still move around.

How can I clear any saved positions and set the columns locations and sizes I want, and have it apply to all drives, folders and both viewing panes?

this is my second biggest gripe with XYplorer.

Still, try this and see if it works:
uncheck Configuration > Styles > Apply list styles globally.
Click Configuration > Styles > Apply to... and uncheck Column layout. (Or also uncheck "Remember list settings per tab")

Now, to update the view in the inactive pane, you have to do Menu > Panes > Copy tab to other pane

welcome to the club, by the way. :) :cup:

Thank you SammaySarkar. This appears to have worked.

I agree with you. Way more difficult than it should be.

Basically one thing is enough: uncheck "Remember list settings per tab".

This gives you what you want -- all tabs the same per pane. I would not find it natural to auto-adjust column widths and positions on the other pane to this pane.

Hello everyone, I can't auto-resize the width of the "name" column so that in the "list" view the width fits the longest name in the list (of files and / or folders). How can I do? I've already tried the advice above but it doesn't work ...

Upgrade to at least v22.10.0205 (beta) and use
Configuration | Colors and Styles | Styles | Columns | [x] Autofit the width of the Name column
?

For the "list" view this should do the job: Tools | Customize List | Autosize Columns
