Quick Search with a Combined NOT operator

I've tried this for over 40 minutes now and can't figure out the right syntax, if it's at all possible. Can I do a quick search that has both a tag and NOT a particular label associated with the file?

This is that I'm trying...

d:?:NOT lbl:archive AND tags:"help for myself" /rf

I've tried literally over a hundred variations of that with and without parens, with and without the ! for the NOT, and with and without the added boolean : indicator, and I can't seem to return what I expect it to return which is all the files with the tag "help for myself" but which have not been labeled as archive files.

Thanks in advance for any assistance that can be provided in this regard.

While armsys's answer is correct (apart from the "f" in archivef ... ), yours should work as well.

What does not work with this?

PS: Well, probably you got the Master Invert still set... next version will come with some new query checker to make this easier... so now take armsys's solution. It works regardless of the Master Invert setting.
