Preview files

Post by mikes16 »

When I go to preview a file, I am asked to download or open the file - like I am downloading the file from a website or something. Choosing open the the file opens the file in the XYPlorer viewer.

Is this a setting on my end that is incorrect somehow? I just want the file to be viewed without being asked to download or open it.

This is because XY uses an embedded IE for Office/Web files, thus this is an IE behavior that is independent of XY.

I don't know how to change it, but I do know that it will not only affect XY's preview but also the behavior within IE when opening/downloading such files. So you might wanna think twice before removing that confirmation. (AFAIC I have this confirmation each time, and I'm fine with it. Better get it in XY than not getting it while browsing....)

I vaguely recollect another thread about this topic some time in last few months, but finding it might take some time...which I don't have now...I'd try searching for likely threads with "download", "preview" or "open".

I don't get this prompt now, but seem to think I did, at least at some point.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

I think JC meant this post:

I think once you choose open or download and uncheck the "show this dialogue everytime", then the popup won't show up again.
