Full Screen? Crash When Choosing Options From Menu

Post by Nighted »

Choosing Tools > Configuration during the full screen preview of an image cause XY to freeze...the program must be killed to exit.

At least I'm assuming this is full screen mode. It's where you bring the image up by right clicking a thumbnail. This is how it explains using full screen according to the help file, although I'm unable to get it display with a black background, have it show the file name or any other thing that the help file says it can do in full screen mode. So again, I'm assuming it's in full screen when this crash happens.

Yes, no freeze that's a direct crash for me!

But no, this is not Full-Screen mode actually. First things first, to get it right you must understand that there are 2 kind of thumbnails in XY: the thumb from the Panel (on Preview tab), and the ones when on (Details with) Thumbnails View.

You are talking about the second one I think, but then there are no FS mode triggered via mouse. Hold left click to have the "Mouse Down Blow Up" feature, when the picture "blows up" full sized (unless you have the "Shrink larger originals to fit window" option enabled) and you can then "move around" while still holding left button to see the part you want. And as soon as you release the button, it's gone/closed.
Using the right button there works exactly the same, with MDUP effect, only that on releasing the button the picture doesn't go away but stays shown like/where it was, and it will only close once you click again or press a key.

To trigger the Full Screen mode, you can either simply press F11 while having a picture focused&selected, or from the Panel, right click on the thumb (on Preview tab!) and choose "Full Screen" on the context menu.
As you'll see, Full Screen mode really is FS, no more XY window, taskbar or anything shown!

Ok, I see how it works now. I must say I find it odd that this only works from the info panel. I think the full screen option should also appear in the context menu of the List View, or at least have it clarified in the help file.

The image preview works similar to Faststone Maxview actually. I do wish you could flip through the image list using your mouse wheel. Pretty cool non-the-less!

I just got another variant of this crash!
"Run time error 5 - Invalid procedure call or argument" and then XY exits...

My sequence used:
1) Go into folder with JPG's, and select one, so it's showing in Info Panel
2) Toggle Views to Thumbnails (54x54)
3) Right-click on thumb in list to get MDBU
4) Hit F11 for FSP mode...BOOM! :P

Now, I'll admit this is somewhat an odd sequence, but if you wanted to go from a MDBU directly to FSP, it makes sense...

BTW, when I tried the seq that started this thread, I get a crash with NO msgs at all...oops...make that a DrWatson dump msg! It just took a while!

"Access Violation" is error...

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

Not me. I have no Dr. Watson. I remove that POS from my system every format. ;)

But for me it freezes and I see an outline of the Configuration dialog...it just hangs there unresponsive after that.

With right mouse down blow-up, Tools | List management also crashes XY (it is still running and using 50% CPU).

Also, I've just discovered that MDBU on small images (I haven't determined exactly what size) does not centre the image on the screen. 70X70 not centred, 100X100 is centred. Thumbnails are 96X96 - is that a clue??

I think we've pretty much come to conclusion that while in MDBU (right-click on a thumb in list) mode, attempting to do various other functions causes a crash...
Since going to Config -or- List mgmt -or- FSP causes it...
