navigation in list / thumbs view

say i have thumbs view like this:

1 2 3 4 5
6 7 8 9 10

moving from 5 to 6 using keys can be a pain. If I use right arrow it stops at 5 and would be handy if it would take me to 6.

I very rarely use thumbs, but I did a quick view that way, and agree it's not that convenient; however, that's the way WE does it, so now the one question I can think of is: Do we keep it same for compatibilty, or make it better/easier for XY users?

BTW, I also just double-checked two other applications that have thumb views... IrFanView does same thing...stops at row end...while Picasa goes to next row..
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

I copied WE behavior here without asking questions. I guess it's the standard way.

But since Surrender brought up the issue, I'd vote to make it go to next line, unless there is some real downside or negative impact that we've not considered, as I find Picasa just a tiny bit easier to use because of this...

It bugs me more in IrFanView than in WE or XY, but that's another vendor! :wink:

This one isnt a real biggie for me, but i was just suggesting an improvement over the standard way.

PS: I was testing the new preview thing in list and thumbs views and was stuck at the end of the row. Without the Playnext thing it would be cumbersome to go from 5 to 6.

Well I don't know why Explorer doesn't do it, but that hitting Right on the last item of a line goes to the first of the next line seems a very natural thing to me, and common behavior in many soft.

I'd vote that XY implements this as well, because others do (FastStone Viewer, PSP, etc) and I don't really see any reason why one would specificaly want it to behave as Explorer does, and not move to the next line/item??

I vote to implement this. If you're in thumbnail view and you want to select files with the keyboard, it basically becomes a complete PITA if you want to select say, 1-7 or anything that goes from one line to the next without select the whole line.

WE is just bad on this, so let's improve it :)
Used to update to the latest beta every day. Now I have children instead…

Okay, I changed it. But it's for Small Icons view and Thumbnails view, not for List view (here you can/should use Up/Down arrows to navigate).
