Quick-jump to UDC to edit

Post by Stef123 »

To modify my CTBs, I note the #ID, and then .... and then I try to find that #ID. Did I set it up under Open? Open with? Run Script? Load Script?

"Manage UDC" has become a bit crowded thanks to my experimental moods. How do I quickly locate the #ID-UDC to edit it?

Small tip if you know already know the command ID...

1) Open the Customize Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.
2) Click the Jump... button.
3) Locate the command ID by filtering the list.
4) The description of the command includes its category which helps you narrow your searching within the Manage User-Defined Commands dialog.

That said, I agree it would be nice if the Manage User-Defined Commands dialog had a Jump... button to make this easier.

UDC menu items are also listed in Help->List All Commands...
There you can search by either ID or name.
Icon Names | Onyx | Undocumented Commands | xypcre

Listing all Commands just repeats my CTB-captions, more or less, but the detour via Keyboard Shortcuts did the trick - THANK YOU.

Yes, great idea. Caters to mouse-driven users who may not know about the Jump feature in KS.
I've been using the KS dialog quite a lot, without ever noticing/ remembering it also lists the category of UDC.

If you hold Ctrl when clicking Help > List All Commands... the listing will include the command IDs. There's also an INI tweak HelpListOfCommandsWithIDs which you can set to 1 to have the command IDs always shown.

From there you can determine the command's ID, name, and category. For instance:

Shows that command #1400 is named 'Tacos' and in the 'Run Script' category.

That bit of hoop-jumping is exactly why I pointed you to Keyboard Shortcuts in the first place. ;)

Though it also serves as a good reminder that the keyboard shortcuts for User Commands can be configured in Keyboard Shortcut just like all other commands.
