Tabs on multiple rows

Believe it or not, I'm getting used to not having two panes.
I'm suggestion an option to put multiple tabs on multiple rows, instead of jamming them all into a single row. I'd like to keep the full path on my tabs -- yes, even though the full path is displayed a little higher on the screen. The thing that's a bit frustrating is that if the path is short enough, the tab *does* show the full path. But if the path is a bit longer, the path is abbreviated/truncated.
My suggestion is to let us choose whether to display all tabs in one row or display them in separate rows (and to allow each tab to show its entire path, which means allowing the tabs to vary in width).
Anyone else want this?

I personally wouldn't be interrested in such a thing, cause even though I do have a bunch of tabs and "truncated" paths, I like that much better than a second row of tabs - which would not look so good to me (as my layout shows toolbar & tabs on the same row) - because I like to get the most space I can for the actual data (Tree/List/...)
That's also why i choose my TB buttons carefully
Another solution could be to have tabs of differents widths, but always on one single row with buttons when needed to move around. But I'm simply not sure it would be such a good idea (that fact that you don't see all tabs at the same time would bother me, as well as having a tabs being resized when I change location in fact

I thought tooltip was quite handy. Dont you think?? But true that you always have to point your mouse on the tab.
1. Maybe some kind of shortcut or toggle button which shows full path tooltips below all tabs. Ofcourse nobody minds if tooltip takes any number of rows.
2. And a bit fancy now. Maybe something like a marquee which moves left and right on the tab to show the complete path. User defines the speed of movement.

You known if you just wanna know what tabs are opened, etc there's always the Tab list!

There you go, I have no problems to believe it. If you want to talk to a wider public about it ("reborn as single-paner"

) , you can do it here:

So now you want double rows of tabs?! Well well, you still have some miles to go before you are a real single-man!
No, I don't like it (see jacky's answer). And it is no solution since again the day will come when some path is too long for a tab. (The real solution is self-discipline.

Did you try renaming the tabs? It can solve the truncation issue by using your creativity.
