LiveFilter, Inputselect and Ideas

I'd like to have the ability to
"show checkboxes; prefix items with "+" to pre-check them"
in LiveFilter
so inputselect can display custom icons for each listed item, its extension base name and full path, like this:

ico path-so custom ico is visible | ext | base name | full path

Any available trick I am missing...?
(I'm not attached to inputselect(), but those conditions seem to be present only there...!)
