A few bugs...

This is a continuation of my post from the Wishes forum section to highlight the bugs I've found...

1. When clicking on "Jump to Setting..." in the Configuration dialog, it opens an error message (contents below). Clicking Close on the error and then "Jump to Settings..." a second time works correctly.

2. The Styles configurations don't seem to work. If I set a color for Selected List Items, the default dark blue Windows selection color is always used, regardless of whether I have it set to Windows Themes or XYplorer Classic. Though if I select a file, then open the Configuration dialog, I can see the correct color on the item I selected in the background, but *only* while the Configuration dialog is open. I will provide screenshots if necessary.

3. When filtering items using F3 Quick Name Search, there is a Path column in the results. I disable this column (because it's only for filtering the current folder contents, I know the path!), and then "Save Column Layout", a dialog says the layout was saved for this mode. The next time I use F3 the Path column is back. Clicking "Load Saved Column Layout" does show me the layout I wanted, but shouldn't it be loaded automatically?

4. Sometimes, when selecting a file, scrolling down and shift+clicking on another, there are files in-between that are not selected. This one is difficult to reproduce. I think it has something to do with the panel auto-refreshing during the time between selecting the first file and shift+clicking the second file. EDIT: Actually, the files are selected, but not highlighted. If you scroll the files off the screen and then back then the highlighting shows up.

Welcome to the club!

1. Cannot repro.

2. These colors are only meant for the unfocused control (it's mentioned in the tooltip). I know: the interface is not clear about this, and one might wonder why it is not possible to configure the colors for the focused controls. Improvement is planned...

3. No, this function is only for manual explicit loading. The default layout for each "list mode" (Browse, Find, Recycler...) is stored and loaded automatically. The Path column, however, is a special case since recently: If Configuration | Find Files & Branch View | Find Files | Search results inherit current columns then you will get a Path column by force. Untick it to have an independent layout for Find (= Search Results) lists.

4. Hm, I'm not seeing this here.

1. Cannot repro.

Well, I can. I actually came here to report that bug. It is completely consistent on my computer; "Jump to Setting..." has never worked and always produces that error. Attached is a snapshot of the error dialog.

I cannot really tell what steps are needed to reproduce, as for me, as said, it never worked and have always displayed that error dialog.

So, I guess my steps to reproduce would be:

1. Install XYplorer on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1.
2. Go to Tools | Configuration.
3. Press "Jump to setting...".

But of course, the bug could be dependent on some obscure setting that was set before I tried "Jump to Setting..." the first time, so I could do this: Backup all settings (have to find out how first), uninstall XYplorer, delete all its remaining settings (have to find out how first), reinstall, and try again. And after that, restore all my settings. But I cannot find the time to do that right now, so for now, I will just report that Quaraxkad is not the only one that experiences that bug.
