Hi,
Is there a way to collapse(or the opposite, I'm not sure about the term) folders once you go to another folder? i.e. a folder is displayed with all its subfolders below, then you go to another folder, and the folder is "closed".
Auto collapse folders

Re: Auto collapse folders
Assuming you mean collapse (correct term) folders in the tree:
I'm not much of a tree user so someone else might have to speak up or could offer better suggestions. I know these tricks help me...
1) Within Tools > Configuration, select the Tree and List section, and under the Tree heading you'll find Auto-Optimize Tree. Enabling this will collapse non-current nodes.
2) If you find having Auto-Optimize Tree enabled isn't enough, there is an INI tweak under [Settings] called AutoOptimizeTreeRadical. Setting it to '1' will trigger the optimizing on location changes which should occur more frequently than the previous option.
For instructions on what an INI tweak is and how to configure it, read this post: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... 413#p32413
3) If you'd like to make your tree even more optimal, there is the Mini Tree feature which allows you to reduce the vast forest of folders into just the few you care about or are currently browsing/using. You can enable it by selecting View > Mini Tree > Mini Tree.
If I'm honest I'd actually suggest you try Mini Tree first and then the other options. Again, as someone who doesn't use the tree often, having all three enabled is the only way I can stand even having it visible.

Re: Auto collapse folders
Already using Auto optimize tree and just added AutoOptimizeTreeRadical but it's still not what I'm looking for.
Mini tree is too little.
What I want is this, if I'm on the D: drive for example, I want to see all the disk's subfolder. Now if I enter Windows folder, and then a subfolder in Windows, I want it to expand the Windows folder in the tree. Then, if I go to Program Files, I want the Windows folder to collapse.
When it does not auto collapse, after few minutes of working with XYplorer(I keep mine open for hours) there's just to many open folders.
I hope it is clear. Is it doable?

I'm not sure... AutoOptimizeTreeRadical seems to do that for me.
Sorry! Maybe someone else will be of more help.

That's why the link to how to properly do a tweak was given because it's often done wrong and then folks claim it's not working.tanin wrote:The ini was not saving my changes
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Forgetting to save the INI file is an easy mistake to make... One I've done countless times before.j_c_hallgren wrote:That's why the link to how to properly do a tweak was given because it's often done wrong and then folks claim it's not working.tanin wrote:The ini was not saving my changes
