The subject update is not a critical update only an optional one and which if you're like me, you don't necessarily install all of those unless you have to. Anyway this particular updates the already installed disk cleanup program "cleanmgr.exe". It enhances the Disk Cleanup by cleaning up the notoriously large WinSxS folder and by ridding the computer of many updates you no longer need on your computer. I re-ran cleanmgr after installing the update, and my C: drive is now about 5 gig smaller so it's well worth it. I'm not sure if this update comes through for an XP machine, but it does for Windows 7. As Filehero pointed out below, the update is built-in to Windows 8/8.1.

Re: Windows 7 and 8 update KB2852386
I noticed upon re-boot of Windows 7 on my laptop that even more files were eliminated because the used space on the C: drive slimmed down even further.
Hey Filehero, yes I haven't ran cleanmgr on my Windows 8.1 machine yet (that I can remember), but I did notice later that the new function is indeed built-in to Windows 8/8.1. Thanks.
Take care,
Ken
