It's no secret I prefer keyboard to mouse use -- and there's no immediate way to move to/copy to tabs etc. via the keyboard. Typically I use shift+f10 to access the right click context menu giving me access to those features. The shift+f10 menu and the right click menu are no longer the same in xyplorer, however -- once upon a time they were.

I've tested in several other applications and xy is the only one returning two separate menus for the two functions. The lack of an expandable moveto/copyto menus are the more frustrating part of the shift+f10. Since it can't be done from the edit menu either, this means presently there is no way for me to move files to a tab, favorites, etc. without using the *shudder* mouse :)

Funny timing on this topic...just got a promo item in mail that listed various typical shortcuts in Windows, and saw this Shift+F10 listed...It's one of those that I had learned and then forgotten...so when I saw this post, thought I'd see if I found same issue...and did...sort of!

It appears to depend on where the mouse and select is as to whether
the two methods get same menu...a sampling is as follows: (I used "code" only to get it to align better)

I didn't take it that far as I only use it in the list -- whatever the case, there seem to be some menu inconsistencies. I hope it's an easy fix :)

But it can be done from "File | Move/Copy/Backup to ...".

Regarding the difference with mouse / Context key menus. I've seen it in another application and it depended on where focus was. In the case in question the problem was that you could right click on a blank area with the mouse and get one menu but the context key always worked as if it was on a line of text. I don't know what the reason is in XY's situation.

Just did a quick check and context menu key gets same results as Shift+F10, so....now just curious why one would use two keys when one will do the same?

Anyway, I did the additional testing as it may hopefully help Don accurately resolve the issue...

The context key is not on older keyboards.

-- as for why use 2 keys over one, I'm used to shift+f10 and often don't remember there's another key that does the same thing. The other problem with the key for it is it's hidden underneath my palm when I'm typing -- it actually requires quite a bit more movement/inconvenience to get to it than shift+f10. One button, yes -- but a problematic one. :)

As you know I will add CKS pretty soon. And I plan to allow as many KS as you like for one function. So "function-to-KS" = "1-to-many" relationship. Why not?! For example, if you like duplicating files you can set CTRL+A, CTRL+B etc. till CTRL+Z all to this one function! (But they won't all be displayed in the menu item )

Currently the to-tab features are limited to context menus, not having an associated widget to launch. If so, those wil be my first custom mappings :)

I'm very aware of the promised but still missing to-tab widget. It all will come...
