Post by DaveOzric »

Hello, I see a option in the searh filters for contents. Does this mean it will search the content of txt files or pdf files?

Thanks

To search for content:
goto info panel (aka statusbar) > Tab Find Files > sub tab "Content"
Search filter is used to take into account / ignore search term you entered into 8 respective sub-tabs

That would be the bomb if it could search text pdf files too. I'd pay extra for that!

Well, actually you can search PDF files but rarely will you get desired results because PDF's are compressed/encoded so a simple text string won't be seen as such...in order to truely search a PDF, they have to be decoded which uses extra time so that would be a downside.
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Therefore it would make sense to make it an option in the find files dialog.
Truely this is also one of the most missed features in XY for me.
