1) If I'm in a folder in my typical detail view, I'd like some clue that there may already be thumbnails created for this folder, even if not current, so that before I turn them on, I might save some time by selecting the size already cached...or decide that if there are none already, I'd just as soon not take the time too create them BEFORE I select that view option. Not sure how best to present this data, so will defer as needed...
This came up because I went to a folder that did not have existing TN's and before I could hit ESC, it had created about 30+ TN's...I thought I had TN's already for this folder from some time ago, and when I didn't,
would have not bothered doing so, as could have gotten what I needed without them, by using preview of certain files.
2) Right now, if I want to review which folders I have created thumbs for, I go to the XY\Thumbs folder and preview the DAT2 files...as they contain the indexes for the actual TN...and delete sets that are no longer neeeded.
What I'd propose would be a more friendly user way, maybe thru a variant of List Mgmt, that would show me the following:
Name of related folder (i.e. C:\Dell\Manuals)
Pixel Size of this TN set (54x54, etc)
Date last updated
Number of TNs in set
KB used for this TN set
This could then be used to select which TN sets are obsolete or undesired, etc. and delete them as wished, and..then...
3) Allow them to be refreshed from this menu instead of having to go to the actual related folder and do the processing...sort of how some photo managers will periodically update their TN's without having to visit the actual folders with pix.
And yes, I FULLY REALIZE that Don has more than a full to-do list at this time, but wanted to throw out the suggestion and get some feedback, from other XY'ers, and IF Don has a chance to stop by, that'll be nice!
