Just noticed that if I attempt to open several xls.files at the same time via XY (control +highlight , then double click or right click/open) instead of opening the files, my zip program wants to start?
Is this a bug or something incorrectly configured in my set-up?

double click : opens the double clicked file in Excel
right click/open: opens all selected files in Excel
So: it's probably your system... but it sounds weird.
I just did some more tests.
double click works fine with one file selected
with more than one file (xls or doc), 7-Zip wants to start
if I select more than one file, I can right click
with "open" leads to 7-zip again
with "open with" I can choose word or excel but then only one selected file is being opened
trying the same with jpg, the problem does not exist, double clicking opens all jpg correctly in irfan view.
trying the same with txt files, double clicking several files leads to only one file being opened, the other files being dropped. Using right click/ open it works fine. The same applies for pdf files.
One other thing I noticed since installing xy is that often my word or excel files opened suddenly have a webtoolbar shown which is not part of my normal config.

Aha. You know, the "Office preview" is just a little fake thing: I abuse IE to preview this stuff.
