Use Case: I make changes to Tags in XY. The the files get copied elsewhere outside of XY.
Then I want access to the tags.

Details:
Tag a photo as "Best" in XY.
File gets backed up by system.
File gets restored elsewhere.
Want to fine all photo files with "Best" tag.

I agree, the tag system looks pretty dependent on XYplorer operation, and there does not seem to be a way to correct the situation as described by MrAnalogy. A way to restore the tags to files would be great.

Using NTFS tags survives all normal operations in an NTFS file system including Backup and Restore.
I'm happily using it in XYplorer and Total Commander.
I search for them in XY or TC using the power of the Everything search engine
which indexes this properties throughout the whole file system.
