21.10.0024 gave me an Automation Error whenever I tried to access my POM with a jpg selected, in .0025 it works again.
Was this just some side effect or helps trying to fix this problem?

That was the discovery of a route that fails.
Are you also having problems opening images by ENTER?

That ACDSee path looks good, right?
Yes.

Ok right - now upgraded. So I get the prompt "about to open..." and then it produces the windows select program prompt as previously.

OK, thanks. So this issue has nothing to do with bitness.
Looks like it's
not solvable. Luckily for you XYplorer is a great image viewer.

Ok thanks, I didnt know that it is indeed a very quick image viewer.
Is there a way either using the default windows method (I assume maybe not as we are then facing same issue as discussed here) or something custom inside of xyplorer to make it open images by default (on a double click) ?
Also can you explain in simple terms easily what is wrong roughly. I understand it seems to be out of your control but what part of windows is failing if it's a Windows issue ?

And you've set the checkmark "Always use this app to open .jpg files" before confirming with "OK"?
or something custom inside of xyplorer to make it open images by default (on a double click) ?

You want dbl-click rather than F11?
No, I cannot. I don't understand it myself.

Yes.
When you right-click an image file and choose open, does it work?

For just images yes, it's the fastest thing I've seen in ages.
If it could be made so that xyplorer can open them by default it would be great and fix my other problem (not your fault), which is that I can never find a simple very fast image viewer

For dblclick to Floating Preview you add this to Tools | Customize File Associations... (Ctrl+F9):
Code: Select all
"XYplorer Floating Preview" bmp;jpg;jpeg;gif;png> #178;

Other than XYplorer, use ImageEye
https://www.fmjsoft.com/imageeye.html#main It's an extremely fast and clean interface image viewer (not editor) and I like the fact that it has no title bar if your cursor is elsewhere.
