Clickable breadcrumbs.
Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Thanks Don for the navigation buttons in the Breadcrumbs bar. I have freed up two more icons from the tool bar and now, I have free space in the toolbar and would try some other contenders.

Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Yep, I could remove even three (back, for, up). A little return for the vertical space costs of the BC.

Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Sorry, I simply can't like the new navigation buttons. I think the biggest problem is that it is visually not ok. It is too "close" to the Breadcrumb path, which also has arrows. It is too "melted" into the path, not distinctive enough. Huh, maybe I can't express it well, but I hope you get the point. I would be so eager to remove the back and forward buttons from my toolbar... I could imagine color change, some kind of separator or something.

Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Currently there is a 2 pixel distance between navigation buttons and breadcrumb components. Make it larger? I'm not sure about that. Other opinions?

What do you think about using a simple separator?admin wrote:Currently there is a 2 pixel distance between navigation buttons and breadcrumb components. Make it larger? I'm not sure about that. Other opinions?
I keep looking at those 4 arrows and something doesn't add up... I think currently they blend too much with the proper breadcrumb area, so a separator might help visually differentiate the 2 areas. See mockup below.
And by the way, I wholeheartedly wish you an awesome 2014!

Ooh! Yes that separator is clear yet it does not really intrude! I think it should be done that way.

Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Yes, looks very fine in the screenshot, but I'm not so happy with the overall looks when the BC is blue or brown. I will add a tweak...

Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Oh, I absolutely love the new tweak!
But you are right: with strong colors the separator it's not really convincing, so now I think you found the perfect solution for all tastes: separator or more pixels. Thank you so much!

Personally, with tweak.admin wrote:With or without tweak?
Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
I think the navigation buttons block should be more prominent. Even with the separator it is not visually well distinguished.
A slightly different background of the whole block would make big difference. The color could be settable in preferences.
By the way where is the tweak to try the separator? Somewhere in the .ini file?

Re: Clickable breadcrumbs.
Hi, the tweak is: Search for "CrumbNavSep" in the XYplorer.ini file and change the value from "0" to "1". Save the change to the ini file and exit XYplorer without saving and then restart it. See this post for an explanation on how to properly tweak XY's ini file: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=3543 This is the beta explanation for the tweak http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... start=2850
Good luck.
