Re: FTP support
TC's (s)FTP is fine if all you want to do is browse and/or upload/download files.admin wrote: I leave FTP to TC. There should be at least something where it's better than XY.
If you actually want to edit the files, e.g. web-development TC's solution is worse than useless. Everytime you save the file locally, you have to *close the editor, then switch to TC and click through 6 dialogs to have the file actually upload.
You are better off using FTPDrive, NetDrive or the like through explorer - which allow you to Browse FTP as if the files are local - including normal context menus.
[*][/size][/b] With an decent editor that is "Tab-Aware" closing it just so TC will recognize that the file should be uploaded 'now' is not even worth the hassle.

Bump
is there any plan to include Ftp client

Re: FTP support
Since it's not on the roadmap after almost 6 years of campaigning, I do not see it happening any time soon.anuraag wrote:Bump

Re: FTP support
Than i request admin to consider it.
Even freeware file managers contains Ftp client.
Xyplorer is best file manager. Its easy to use. I don't want to switch to other file manager only because Xyplorer don't contain ftp client.

Re: FTP support
What is it going to take to get this in there? Should we collect a bounty? I assume we all already paid a registration fee for your software? Admin, why cant you service the needs of your users? Does *everything* have to be a feature that you use? We have needs too!

Re: FTP support
While I am also one who would love to have ftp ability, I have been able to work around it. I would particularly like the ability to script an ftp transfer sequence, though for the things I need regularly, that's not totally necessary.ethanpil wrote:What is it going to take to get this in there? I would, however, like to request that you please not make statements like "Why can't you service the needs of your users?" even if you're joking -- There are not many developers at all who are as responsive as Don is to his users. As the owner of a small software business myself, I definitely understand the balancing act between which features to include, and which ones to wait on... At this point, having seen how well Don (i.e. Admin) treats his customers, even though there are some features that I would prefer over others, I just smile and am grateful for what I have (and occasionally respectfully ask for those features to be included).

Re: FTP support
then it's simple, don't switch utterly and use free ftp managersanuraag wrote:I don't want to switch to other file manager only because Xyplorer don't contain ftp client.

1) what you paid was for what you got -you did know XY's functionality, didn't you?ethanpil wrote:What is it going to take to get this in there? Should we collect a bounty? 2) do you actually know how ftp works and how many service/security issues in invokes?(if one's trying to make a good ftp, not just "some")

Re: FTP support
After using xyplorer for some time I am it has spoiled me and I can't stand any existing FTP client. Please consider adding ftp & scp.
Re: FTP support
-1. Why FTP support? Crash&Burn it is exact: http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic. ... =30#p63845
Any separate program will better cope with this task.

I want a virus scanner, a music editor, and a DVD converter into XYplorer!
PLEASE! Install NetDrive (http://www.netdrive.net/) then use XYplorer with FTP and WEBDAV happily!

Re: FTP support
Totally agree. I use netdrive myself, but even without it you can simply map a ftp to a drive.LittleBiG wrote:I want a virus scanner, a music editor, and a DVD converter into XYplorer!![]()

Re: FTP support
My two "permanently open" apps are Firefox and XYplorer. Firefox has a very nice FTP add-on called FireFTP so I don't feel a pressing need for XYplorer to add FTP support.
