Here's a couple of online sites that aid in creating icons (that I was pointed to by comments on this software

http://converticon.com/
Haven't used any of these but just sharing here for others...

I guess it's a matter of habit and way of thinking. I am more used to being able to add things below and, if necessary, bring them higher. Also, not being able to add/remove buttons in batch mode is a downside.
j_c_hallgren wrote:I see it as the Customize TB being used to select which icons and in what seq they appear on TB, and any custom values of the actual icon being handled by some other context or dialog.
My thinking behind what I said was that it'd be good to bring all the customisation of toolbar under one dialogue window. A place where you can add a button, change where it appears on the TB and configure what it does before deploying it to the TB.

zer0 wrote:4. Using the suggested 24x24 size doesn't produce good results - it appears that an icon of that size still gets scaled and this results in a distorted image.
5. It's not possible to DnD icons onto buttons - makes applying icons more time-consuming, especially if all icons are grouped in a folder.
6. Browsing for an icon opens a window different from a typical one when browsing for a file - should be like the one when clicking "Browse..." when wanting to upload a file here. That window will allow use of breadcrumb in AB and also Recent Places, which will simplify finding an icon immensely.
4. Works fine here. As I said before the icon must be 24x24 or it is scaled.
5. Come on, this is a one time job.
6. You are right. I changed that.

i get always the default icon only:
E:\a\xyplorer\Tools\computer.icl /3
C:\WINDOWS\system32\shell32.dll /3
c:\Programme\Microsoft Office\Office10\EXCEL.EXE /261

I just saw why it does not work for you: You use
small toolbar icons, right? That's a bug, will fix...

Looking at this again, I better see what you mean...it's simply a case of adding new "above" or "below" the curr selected on right, and which is more typical...it's now "above" and I guess you may be right in that "below" may be more common.
However, I was mainly pointing out that this isn't something related to new CTB but a pre-existing condition.
Re batch: Just how often does one do this function?

I suspect rarely enough so that batch couldn't be justified for time needed.

I think above is more common. Just tried some toolbars in other apps and they all do it above.

One may use this function straight after installing XYplorer. This is because XY comes preloaded with a selection of TB buttons and one may want to several of those buttons and add a few others. Being able to select several buttons to add/remove would be useful in this situation. Also, being a big fan of CTB, I was overjoyed when I saw that Don allowed us to have 10 CTBs. I'd have loved to add all 10 simultaneously and then tinker with them, but I had to add one at a time. That's more clicking than necessary, especially since it's not possible to remove a button from context menu.
admin wrote:I think above is more common. Just tried some toolbars in other apps and they all do it above.
I think of such lists (UDCs, TB buttons etc) as data structures like arrays or stacks, so if there are no gaps (n/a to stacks because they never have gaps) each addition goes to the end of the list. Once an item is added, it is possible to move it to another location though.
P.S. Thank you for changing to Common Dialogue

You're right, set to use big toolbar icons works.
And now with 0018 it works for both settings, small and big. Thanks.

The idea would be that, when right-clicking on the button, XY would analyze that script and determine whether or not it shows a pop-up menu.
- If so, then it is "merged" into the current context menu we got, so we'd have Run, Edit, sep, <context script menu>, sep, customize TB
- If not, then it's the same as above, except instead of a menu we have only one item, using whatever caption was defined on script, defaulting to "Run context script" or something
- Of course, if one doesn't specify such a "context script" then the context menu is the exact same as currently.
after playing around with CTB for a bit i've started to think this would be a very nice feature.
but i think the run and/or edit commands should be at the bottom of the context menu, to make the actual script a little bit easier to click.

Yes, this is a possibility for a later stage. I will wait some weeks to see what other ideas emerge from the universal mind, body, and soul.

Conc. the context menu: brilliant!

Will be added in CTB 2.0.

Of course to squeeze as much as possible from the available space is nifty.
So i like the idea of "context menu script"
I think the context menu for this context-script could be always there visible,
even without having an ctx script set.
If clicking on this ctx script without having any script set would just do nothing... or display an error msgbox?
I have made an picture how this could look:

Thanks, but ...

...
(1) I won't support embedded icons because they don't look good enough due to scaling.
(2) Conc. the right-click menu: I already made some experiments today and will add it soon (pretty much as jacky designed it). It's too good to wait.

Anything (not called "Cancel") without a script is disabled:
Code: Select all
"Enabled" msg 'here';
"Disabled"
"Cancel"
