XYPlorer crashes when viewing "Network Places"

Hmmm.... is there any other reason why the NT/2000/XP option would work but none of the others do?

Could it be a firewall? I'm using the WinXP firewall and Norton Antivirus.. nothing real special.

No, forget the others. As you have XP, the NT/2000/XP option should work and -- as you reported -- it does work. Great!

But why the hell doesn't it do it inside XYplorer? I'm just looking for any implementation differences... but so far I see none...

You guarantee that Method (4) in the test program works alright, yes? So your system does not matter, the code is working.
Could you send me a screen shot of your nethood opened in Explorer? Sometimes, seeing it brings up an idea...

I don't have anywhere to host a picture, but let me try to describe it:

There are 38 objects, some have Network Location of "The Internet" and some of "Local Network". None of them have a "Comment".

Nothing seems special about it....

Has anyone else using XP had this problem?

I let it sit and came back 2.5 hours later and it loaded up.

Strangely, it showed every possible link on my network, which is probably why it took so long. In contrast, "My Network Places" regular only shows links I put there. I can bet you that's why it takes so long. It found 317 links instead of 38.

Why does it show every network link instead of what I bookmarked?

Hm.
What do you mean by "network link"? Under my nethood there are just computers (servers).
Did you get the email I sent you?
Why does it come out differently on my test app NetworkList.exe?

I replied to your email.

In "My Network Places" on the desktop, I click it and I get anything I've used a file from or that I've linked to. In XYPlorer, it returns every connection and machine on my network and not the links I specified in Network Places. It's like they are two different things.

Like I said in the email, I'm on a big college LAN so that might be part of it...
