Please download the beta version again. It's now v9.50.0014 (but I did not post in the change log section).

I changed a bit in the previewed formats section. Does it fix the bug?

OK, I cannot wait anymore (gotta leave the building soon). I simply assume I fixed it (otherwise you are doomed  ) and will upload a new beta soon.

Found a bug...if a format appears in more than one category -- *.ASP, *.PHP, etc do -- then de-selection of it in one category doesn't lead to its automatic de-selection in [an]other category(ies). That can't be right

To the contarry, that's intended. It allows you to preview PHP as text (Text preview) instead of interpreted (HTML preview).

a) This isn't mentioned in the help file, so it is difficult to determine what exactly is intended.
b) So we're talking about a view type of a preview? Surely it would be better to provide such toggle functionality from within the Preview tab of the Info panel. A button to switch between the 2 can have a captions "View as text"/"View as HTML".

It is mentioned in the help:
The order of precedence of the various previews is:

Text > Web & Office > Font > Icon > Image > Media

So, to preview HTML using the Browser (embedded IE), simply go to Configuration | Previewed Formats and uncheck HTML under "Text" and check it under "Web & Office". If you want to preview HTML as source code leave it checked under "Text".

a) Looking up Previewed Formats in help's index does not produce the above passage.
b) Going back and forth into Configuration, checking and un-checking boxes simply to switch between different views is too much work. Views should be changeable on the fly at a press of a button.

a) Yes, the Help file can always be improved. No news.
b) Should should should. Over here it's the real side of things, and that spells can can can. I have great ideas to keep me busy for the rest of century, but, guess what, I also have to realize them. And, alas, that takes a little more than just throwing out ideas. :)
And apart from that, Raw View always gives you the source code at a single click.

Well if it was done properly to begin with then I wouldn't be coming up with these ideas  Quite often, because of the sheer demand (or aim?) to pump out as much functionality as possible, some of it is coming out less than polished and ends up under "nobody spoke up, so no reason to improve" stone in the long run.
