It should be added/set in XYplorer.ini rather than Startup.ini. Startup.ini only controls the location of XYplorer's data folder.

FYI: This setting is ON by factory default and cannot be changed through the GUI. However, I added a possibility to tweak it (i.e., to turn it off in this case), for just in case somebody really does not like the feature...

Now I have the suspicion that in jerry's case it has been turned off by whatever mysterious process.

I added it to the [General] section of XYplorer.ini but still no change. Does it go into a different section?

The INI key is already there -- in the [Settings] section -- you just need to change its value from "0" to "1".
