Stinky Selection (sorry, but I HATE that as it is!)
Re: Stinky Selection (sorry, but I HATE that as it is!)
Fiddling around with the marquee box bug in other other thread, I discovered buggy behaviour in XY's Sticky Selection. It turns out that enabling Sticky Selection, selecting a few items and then creating even the smallest marquee selection box results in complete loss of selection of previously-selected files. Considering that clicking on white space doesn't result in loss of selection, I see no reason why this shouldn't extend to marquee box. In fact, said marquee box is most often used FOR mass selection -- there is only so much Ctrl-clicking a man can take

This is a feature, and I think it has been discussed or at least documented in the change log when sticky selection was introduced. Re: Stinky Selection (sorry, but I HATE that as it is!)
Yep, saw it in the changelog (thanks serendipity!). However, I do believe that it is slightly oxymoronic that, with Sticky Selection enabled, applying a selection technique to non-selected files results in loss of selection to previously selected files. If one must insist on loss of selection through marquee creation, is it possible to do so only if the whole of said marquee is created outside of area covered by columns in the list aka true white space?admin wrote:This is a feature, and I think it has been discussed or at least documented in the change log when sticky selection was introduced.
