I also would like to remind you of the also quite popular way to shift-click a tab to close it (mirc, opera, ...)
I also know that it's a little unlikely to be implemented alongside the doubleclick, just thought I'd try :)
Also, this wouldn't need to focus the tab to be closed first, and therefore not (re)open the path to that tab in the tree (if it has been closed).

bye

Toolbar has a "Go Home" button -- so there's a single-click for what you want.

Good you did. Somehow I could not find a reason not to add it.

And it is already my preferred way to close tabs! :)

I stumbled into this just now...I don't recall using this before and ended up (by accident) closing a tab I wanted to keep open...so...re-opened this prior thread, and wondering if this behavior could be user defined as to being active or not, even via INI-tweak, so I could disable it as I prefer other methods of closing tabs.

Update: I have now configured my touch-pad so that if I click in a particular corner, it's considered a Mouse-Middle-Button (MMB) so now I may be able to use that instead, which would avoid accidental actions.

Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

I second that.

Personally I would use a MMB click to close a tab. Double clicking it could open a new tab, shift clicking could GO HOME...

A little FYI just in case, but middle click on a tab will close it already.

As for dbl-click, I don't know where it's used to close, but over here in Maxthon dbl-click means (un)locking a tab, and that makes much more sense to me.

I personally don't like the dbl-click close -- it's one of the few features I was persuaded to add against my personal taste or need. The crucial question here is: is it an expected de facto standard or not? if not I will remove it!

Oh dear I will show my ignorance once more by admitting I did not know this deleted tabs! I always use middle click and was horrified to find it could happen with double click. Especially as you use a single click to gain focus and it could be all to easy to delete a tab by mistake. I do like the idea of using it to lock a tab as this is sort of fail safe!

I don't remember for Maxthon if I set it or not, but I would say dbl-click to (un)lock was default, if not there it did nothing.
Quickly launched Opera & FF, in both it did nothing and in both I have the default settings. EditPad doesn't do anything on dbl-click on tab either.

So I would say it's fair to assume dbl-click to close is not a default/expected behavior, only middle click is.

I vote for (un)locking location on dbl-click !

That's what happened to me! I lost a couple of tabs by accident and was  and :o ! Now, so as not to upset any folks who prefer that method (original request was by user pissant, but last post by that id was months ago), that's why I suggested either a config opt or as minimum, an INI-tweak...that would satsify all types of users.

This could be set to one of 3 values: Close/lock/select.

I removed it. What to do with the dbl-click... we'll see.

EDIT: I decided to toggle Locked state on dbl-click. Case closed.
