I would presume that Don and XY in this case is just a victim of M$ as they have changed the rules about how things work...see this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927009

Based on reading a few sites that discuss this issue, it seems a number of users and some other apps have the same problem, so I guess you who have the newer OS's will just have to deal with tweaking the registry as M$ describes.

Yes, that is unfortunate. However, what I feel could be another side-effect is that people would not wish to change the registry, for one reason or another, and not use that functionality as a result. Consequently, the value of the software may decline in their eyes even though, technically, it's not the software's fault.
