Well, this stimulated the nerd in me, and I just made it work. Nice exercise. :ugeek:

not really what i hoped for  especially as if there is no multi-line, how one would know where in the name(only partly visible in one line caption) there is word live filter was made by?
highlighting is really useful when filter is set to match anywhere, helping to faster found needed file among others that passed live filter criteria.

didn't notice 2nd page - many thanks for finding good visual way! :appl:
add: after update glitch 2. become even more present

i still feel like it has smt to do with Thumbs view, like if after taking first filter letter it starts to render matching items thumbs and misses everything typed that moment. in any non-thumb view filtering is ok.
don't know what may be on my side, view settings are

last beta didn't fix it fully, but i think you can stop bothering, i guess i understood the reason = on laptop i keep most of temp files on sd-card, it's so to say my "working folder", and most tests about this glitch i experienced there. i presume the reason of slowness is simply in speed of data access not XY algorithms.
still maybe it helps you for other reasons: in situations when glitch happens, filter box has full word, but filtering happens only by first letter and filter-info-ribbon show this first letter. if you type this one starting letter, wait till filtering ends and proceed typing however many letters at whatever speed - filtering works properly. so only first letter filtering catches this presumably mechanical slowness.
not a big deal, will type slower.

In fact, I could reproduce it in the meantime (fast typing + large list + thumbnails), and this fixes it for me.
