Re: TreeExpansionIcon
The triangles are brilliant. Don't know how they're drawn or if it would be doable, but an idea for mini-tree, using open/white triangles, follows. Actually, I think this too subtle (as the original blue "+" method seems as well), but may spark an idea. Also, what about separately definable BG color for the tree panel when in mini-tree? [Edit--Just noticed Win 7 Explorer uses open (white) triangles--for showing closed branches; opposite of logical--a dark triangle should mean closed/full (of items), a white triangle should mean just a container/the stuff is expanded, as the new XY squares do]

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
I had tried white triangles before but the lines looked too thin to me. It would be visible in your screenshot if you posted a PNG instead of a JPG I think.

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
A bit off-topic: I just noticed that with Narrow Tree enabled the Computer node gets shifted right making the expansion icon rather ugly:Not sure there's really much you can do since there's so many factors at play. And also right-clicking the expansion icon of Computer shows the list of drives with exclamation point icons.
Now I'm having a hard time finding the right balance between narrow tree, TreeNodeIndent, and TreePaddingLeft.
More on-topic: I think I down-right hate the look of corner, and while I'm liking the triangles, I find the square and diamond options rather interesting.
Decisions, decisions...

... so many factors at play... yes, you got it.
But I will fix the PC's tree node crumb menu...
I also like square and diamond.

Hi,

Presumably this change:Code: Select all
v14.40.0003 - 2014-08-27 21:46 *Catalog: Minor graphical change.
Is that change supposed to look like that (14.40.0304, no icon tweak applied yet)? Thanks, admin wrote:Yes, the latter.

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
BTW, I finally seem to have settled for "Diamond".

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
Flat PlusMinus or triangles, whereas their grey fill somwehat collides with my blue TPT color. The closed "diamonds" are too grey and bulky/massive in appearance.admin wrote:What's your choice, oh XY-crowd?

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
I'm still sticking to the old-school PlusMinus.
The triangles look nice only when TPT is disabled imo, because the downward triangle inside a TPT node makes the result look "unbalanced".

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
I actually like the flat white normal plusminus nodes. Is there any chance of having those in minitree?

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
Not to be pointlessly critical, but none of the icons are great.
-Plus minus and plus minus flat are huge (using Win 7 125% resolution), distracting and, in MT, dark.
-Triangle improves but too dark in both reg and M tree, and misses opportunity to use color for feedback.
-Square, corner, and diamond all provide good feedback, are the best size, and work best w/ TPT highlight box. However, still dark.
The hard-wired blue icon color in MT is distracting for all the icons.
None of the icons are helped by the TPT icon highlight box, but triangle looks esp. bad against the highlight. All the icons would look better if TPT just highlighted the path and not the icon.
Myself, still deciding between triangle (cleanest exc. for TPT highlight) and diamond (reads best of the right size 3).
All solved by user-customizable icons?.. ;-)

To my knowledge all squarish icons have the same dimensions.sfwood wrote: -Plus minus and plus minus flat are huge, distracting and, in MT, dark.

Re: TreeExpansionIcon
Really? I'm seeing something weird, then (Win 7, normal fonts, XY fonts Segoe UI 10.2 [main] & Arial 9 [buttons/labels]): Close, yes, but definitely variation; maybe part visual, part real, but..Filehero wrote:..To my knowledge all squarish icons have the same dimensions.
