1) My Firefox does (You have to hide the menubar to see it)
2) It's experimental because I first need some feedback on your experiences. Giving a functionality to Alt+Down/Up deems me a bit adventurous. (And it's actually unlikely that I will implement it as a non-tweak.)

Re: Main menu bar has disappeared
FF's hidden menubar altclick vs visible menubar altclick (its just focused in the latter case)
Whereas XY always toggles it, regardless of whether it was set to be visible or not. (HideMainMenu in ini)

Re: Main menu bar has disappeared
Whatever. It's just an experiment. I might remove it later.
Let's leave it at that. The new default shortcut solves the problem anyway.

Re: Main menu bar has disappeared
I'm no expert,
but it seems this could be solved by reverting to the normal, no-tweak behavior when menubar is not hidden.
But it's all yours.

Re: Main menu bar has disappeared
Yes, sure. My concern is: If somebody hides the menu he will have his reasons to do so. He does not want to experience that the menu comes back everytime he touches the ALT key.

# create a "Menu" toolbar button
do you want to create a "Menu" toolbar button that show a floating menu below it that contain the menu bar items?, because
* a [3 line menu navicon](https://www.google.com/search?q=3+line+menu+navicon) is a universal way to show a menu
* the advantage (no permanent menu bar) is larger than the disadvantage (1 additional click to click a menu option)

Re: Main menu bar has disappeared
Yes, I would like that, but I cannot (technically impossible / don't know the way / too much work) pop the main menu with fly-out submenus. I can only do what you get with SC popupmainmenu and that is not good enough IMO.

Re: Main menu bar has disappeared
I like the new Alt tweak. It performs as expected and is the de-facto behaviour in many other applications.
I want XY to serve soft ice cream. Please Don, make XY serve soft ice cream.
