Difference btw. History... and Recent Locations... ??

Hi, the help file says:

"History...
Pops up a list with your recent browse history. The first/oldest entry is at the bottom, the last/newest at the top. The history holds up to 256 entries and remembers them between sessions."

"Recent Locations...
Shows the MRU list of locations from most recent (at the top, with number 1) to most ancient. Dbl-click an item to jump to it. The MRU holds maximally 64 items."

What is the actual difference?? I saw that it pops up different results but I dunno how they are computed. How am I supposed to interpret these two features in comparison?

History is chronological.
Recent Locations is not.

History can be tracked per tab, your historical timeline can be navigated by going back/forward, going back and then to a different location than forward would take you removes "future" entries, and by default it allows (really relies on allowing) duplicates.

Recent Locations is just the last 64 unique locations you've browsed, with no care given to the pane, tab, or historical timeline.



Consider you go on a mini-world tour: Canada > USA > Spain > Germany > Russia > Germany > Canada

History contains every stop and the order (MRU-first): Canada; Germany; Russia; Germany; Spain; USA; Canada
Recent Locations contains only the places (MRU-first): Canada; Germany; Russia; Spain; USA
