Dragging to/from Explorer in Windows 7
I am sure others had the problem, but unfortunately could not find a solution by searching the board. I run xyplorer as administrator and have all the permissions set to full, but no dice. Anything else I can try?

So, what's your problem?
I'm a casual coder using AHK language. All of my xys scripts:

Could you state the bitness of your W7 as well?
I guess it's 64bit, right?
Just out of curiosity, what do you achieve by having two file managers open at the same time?

It is 64bit, right, win7 Professional. It is often convenient to move stuff from or to windows opened by other applications, that's where the dragging from explorer comes in. And in any case it is most annoying when something stops working from one system to the other. It's should work.RalphM wrote:Could you state the bitness of your W7 as well?

This is Windows being a security guard.
Some options:
- Don't run XY as administrator.
- Disable UAC.
- Install XY to Program Files.
- Only use official releases of XY, not betas - I believe they are the only ones Don signs and the signing could make a difference.
It might be possible that this solution (also a StackOverflow answer) would work if Don made the changes - but it might also be true that Windows no longer uses messaging for d'n'd.

Not running as administrator, don't like installing to program files, using the 'official 13.60 version.TheQwerty wrote:This is Windows being a security guard.

Disabling UAC probably did it, because now it works, but I disabled UAC before reading the board, and did a lot of other things in between, so cannot swear that it was a solution.
Moving to a new OS is a royal pain, and this one, from xp to 7 is the worst, from DOS 2.1 through various iterations of Windows (although I was smart/lucky enough to avoid Me and Vista)
Thanks for the advice and keep fingers crossed...
