Search Process in Seperate Thread

Post by phatmankerr »

No idea if this is possible, but it would be useful to be able to run a search and continue using XY's browsing functionality :?:

XY's search functionality is one of the fastest live searches I have used, but I sometimes need to search network drives with hundreds of thousands of files (and even XY takes a couple of minutes to complete the searches). During which time XY is effectively locked.

Thanks

Prevent Automatic Searching

Post by phatmankerr »

Just on a side note - is there any chance of preventing non user initiatied searches.

Basically if I open XY (and the last session was closed on a search tab) I don't want the search to start immediately (as it was probably just me forgetting to select another tab before closing).

I know I can press Escape (or Click the 'Find Now' button - is this a bug - the button caption does not always show 'Stop' when a search is running ?).

But in some cases the search will not stop instantly (only a minor delay but it all adds up in a working day).

I know you love optional workarounds ( ) but I can actually see how some users would find this behaviour useful - Just not me.

Thanks

Sure, it's easy: start a second instance! *

* That was a cold off-my-head tip. No time right now to try... tell me how it works if you find the time to try.
