Context Menu advice

Apparently, XY drops many software option we usually have when we right click on folder or file in the default windows explorer.
Hoping this problem will be resolved soon but in the meantime, not possible for me to use an explorer handicaped with the missing extra features, so i tried to find a solution with these utilities :

- Context Menu Editor
- Right Click Context Menu Adder
- DeskIntegrator

All without success but i've just find 2 working solutions :

- FileMenu Tools (http://www.lopesoft.com/en/filemenutools). An article about http://download.cnet.com/8301-2007_4-9874435-12.html
- Ultimate Windows Context Menu Customizer (http://www.door2windows.com/ultimate-wi ... p-vista-7/)

Choose what you prefer or please mention something even better.
I've just tried with success and both of them the addition of Malwarebytes. By the way, does someone know what is the good exe of Norton internet security suite 64bits to launch with a parameter (so that it could be added into the context menu) ?

If you're talking 64bit issues it would probably be worth mentioning it in your post and even for those there have been some workarounds found to make some of them showing up in XY.
I take it you read all the posts in this forum about context menu issues with 64bit apps, if not, you might find some help there.

And in case you missed it, the newest beta (13.60.0010) offers a way to display the 64bit-context menu.

You're right, i didn't notice the 13.60.0010 beta and i've just see there is a 13.70 announcement about the Shell Integration !
Wow, XY will become very cool and i will be very addicted to it, especially when the "Windows auto start & netword drives" (http://www.xyplorer.com/xyfc/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=10774) will be resolved.

Cool, 13.70 is here.
I tested, there is a "show 64bits context menu" and i confirm that i can see, for example, malwarebyte i could not see before.
On the other hand, i don't see, for example, norton internet security suite on any menus.
Is there another reason we can explain ?

Another thing : all i can see in the default context menu, i can see also in 64bits context menu, so we could choose by option to see the 64bits context menu by default ?
Edit : forget this last question, there is already an option for that, cool !

I had the same problem with Malware Bytes and Norton not showing up in the context menu. Turning on "Show the 64-bit context menu" in the Shell Integration configuration setting solved the problem for Malware Bytes. However, Norton still does not appear. As a work around, I placed a shortcut of "navw32.exe" in the Send To folder. This allows me to scan specific files/folders using Norton - just right click on an item, then go to the Send To menu and select Norton. I added a bullet (•) to the beginning of the shortcut name so that Norton appears first in the Send To menu items. There's one issue with this work around - sometimes, when Norton updates, the shortcut no longer works and has to be replaced. This is because the name of the folder that navw32.exe resides in contains the Norton version number - see screenshot of shortcut properties. If the update changes the version number, then the shortcut breaks. This is annoying, but it's a minor inconvenience.

Norton doesn't display any context menus anymore in filemanagers other than WinExp from v21, independent of the bitness of your OS and applications, so I had to find another way myself but I created a PFA instead with the following definition:

The problem with the folder structure being version dependent remains, so after an update you might have to change the path.

As a followup to my previous message ...

I noted that turning on "Show the 64-bit context menu" in the Shell Integration configuration setting solved the problem for Malware Bytes. However, since posting that comment, I noticed that when this is done, the context menu items for 7Zip disappear when using XYplorer.

So, I guess I'll have to keep "Show the 64-bit context menu" unchecked and stick with using shortcuts for both Malware Bytes and Norton in the Send To folder.

Did you note that if "Show the 64-bit context menu" is unticked there is an item "Show 64-bit context menu" in the 32-bit context menu? So you can quickly pop the other menu on demand...

Yes, I did, thanks. It doesn't really improve convenience for me though - that's 2 steps to access a menu item - 3 if you include having to switch back. It's just as easy to keep the shortcuts in the Send To folder.

It's a general Windows problem. No software will give you both 32-bit and 64-bit content menu items in one menu. With "Show 64-bit context menu" XYplorer comes closer to this than any other file manager AFAIK.

... except for Windows Explorer, as mediocre (XP) or horrible (Vista, W7) it is otherwise.
Never had any issues with context menus there, all of my varied programs show up unless manually disallowed, of course I'm not expert enough to understand which ones go via the 32bit or the 64bit menu, in the end I don't care as long as things simply work.
And yes, I understand that programs often don't follow the rules, especially older ones.
... just trying to understand what Windows does here differently, that 3rd party software can't do.
If XYplorer were not as close to perfect for my needs as it is, I would not care, but I really want to make this my default file manager, the paid version, and this is an essential topic (to me).
