Left Device-Folder listing Does not always refresh.

Post by theoldman »

Hi.
Sorry to have to report another little problem (vs13.50), but you may want to know about it.
A bit of a strange one this...
I backup various files on different external Hard Drives Via USB2/3 ports. Better safe than sorry.

a). When I unplug a device, the left hand column sometimes leaves the device listed there.
Then when another Usb Hard Drive or flash drive is plugged in, the left column still shows the
old device but not the new one.
To remove that from the listing (and this does not always work), I exit XYplorer with 'saving' and
then run XYplorer again. Exiting without 'saving' has the same effect. The Device may or may not
be removed from the device listing. The new drive will not be listed when this happens, but
Windows Explorer shows it.

b). Sometimes the new device plugged in without the errors ocouring will not be listed at all, running
Windows Explorer (when XYplorer is running) will show the new device in its device/folder column.

This problems does happen in both Windows XP 32bit and Windows 7 32bit operating systems.

All the best.

To be honest, I've noticed this peculiarity on a few occasions in the last few weeks. After safely removing a flash drive, the drive is still appearing on the list. Typically, simply hitting F5 to refresh takes care of it and it goes away, but I've had to exit XY to get rid of the drive entry in the list as well. The first thing I checked was the refresh settings in Configuration and yes, I did have both Auto Refresh checked as well as for removable drives. I'm using Windows 7 X64. I've been doing plenty of flash and external hard drive work lately since I was improving a scripts which automatically opens a new tab named with the drive's label when I insert a flash/external drive and removes the tab when I safely remove the drive. The script also opens the labeled tab if I want to reuse the drive after safely removing it when it hasn't been unplugged. By the way, it would be a killer built-in XY feature. :) Sorry I can't supply specifics at the moment but I will if it occurs again.
