Hi.
Version 13.50. Gets better and better.
Just had a quick look at this and found a couple of problems that I thought you may like to know about.
It consernes the 'Tab' feature'. Problems are as follows:-
a). When Tabs locked, if in a locked tab and select no-locked folder, the locked folder can suddenly become the no-locked folder. a new Tab is opened with the no-locked folder and content. The orignal Locked folder vanashes.
b). Sometimes, if you select a Locked Folder, say containing films, and run a film, XYplorer can suddenly exit that Folder and revert to back to the 1st Tab listed (left).
I hope this is of some interest.
All the best.

I don't think I have seen this here. But maybe I misunderstood. There are no "locked folders" in XY. So, please explain again.

Re: Tabs - Jump when Locked and exit when item executed.
Hi. I will do my best to explain, but my daughter is typing this as I had a few minor strokes and have problems with thought and speaking. She will do her best.admin wrote:I don't think I have seen this here. But maybe I misunderstood. There are no "locked folders" in XY. So, please explain again.
To explain: A 'Tab' can be locked onto a folder location (Right mouse click, select 'Lock Tab')
Lets say I have a Download folder, a Working folder and a folder where I put the Finished programs into.
Each Locked 'Tab' is a folder.
If I go into the Locked 'Working Folder', It is where it should be. If I select a folder in the directory listing on the left of the screen, a new tab will be opened (to the right of the current selected Tab) with that directory folder and its contents (file listing). Correct.
If I then go back and select the 'Working Folder', I am back in that folder. The Directory folder is still there (Right to the working folder. Correct.
Now, Sometimes, when I am in a Locked Tab (say 'Working Folder') and then select a folder from the directory listing (left),
the 'Working Folder' suddenly changes to the Directory Folder, while a new 'Tab' is opened for the Directory Folder selected.
Now I have two 'Tabs' with the same Folders. They even sometimes swap around or the Locked 'Working Folder' becomes a different folder and what ever that Locked 'Tab' was, diappears completely from the 'Tab' listing (Row).
Sorry, it the best explanation I can do. Hope its good enough.
(Hi, having a bit of trouble understanding Dad. I think what I have typed here is correct. It sounds right to me. I did notice some promlems when Dad was looking around the Hard Drive. Paula).
There is another anomaly, but I need to watch the Tabs to understand whats happening there. It took me ages to see the above, so this time my daughter will help me and I will let you know.
All the best.
Charles.

Re: Tabs - Jump when Locked and exit when item executed.
From one old man to another oldman, check to see if you have the tab for the folder in question set as "default". To check it, right click on the tab and see if "Default Tab" is checked.
If you do have a tab set as "Default Tab", when you migrate to another folder in the tree (in the left side of XYplorer), which you do not have another tab for, XY will remain on the same tab even though you've gone to another folder. I have my "C:\" set as the default so if I go to any other folder XY stays on "C:\" Tab even though it's now on a different folder on the tree with the changed folder contents on the list side of XYplorer. Unless the folder I went to is already assigned to another tab, when that's the case the other tab will highlight as it should. By the way, this will happen if the tab is set as the Default tab even if it's locked. With XY set this way, you don't end up with all these new tabs only the locked ones you want from session to session.
Maybe you have a different issue...

Re: Tabs - Jump when Locked and exit when item executed.
I think I understood you now. But I cannot reproduce this problem here. I'm working with locked tabs all the time, and I never had this problem. Maybe somebody else reading this made a different experience?
Wait, now I see one possibility: If your locked tab is at the same the Default tab (you can toggle this via right-click menu of the tab; a default tab is marked by a small green overlay on the tab icon)) then unexpected things will happen: The locked tab will change its location. So: Do not combine Locked and Default.

Re: Tabs - Jump when Locked and exit when item executed.
Hi. I want the 'Working Folder' to remain 'as-is' and a new 'Tab' to be opened when a subfolder is opened in the 'Working Folder'. This is so I can work there and then just go back and select the 'Working Folder' and carry on doing something else. then go back into the 'new Tab' and alter or work on any txt file (or something) that is needed there.admin wrote:I think I understood you now. As I have about 7 'Tabs' set for various folders that are for various tasks and storing results, I do not want 'default' to be set on any 'Tab'. That would defeat the object. Jumping from one tab to another is very fast way of achieving various tasks.
Another example:-
One folder contains films to convert, another folder will contain the final converted films, One file is a Working folder where things may get dumped for unzipping into say the 'To convert' folder. Another a 'Converted' folder. Another folder will be the c:\Program Files folder, another a c:\games folder. Each is inside a locked 'Tab' of their own. Each for a specfic task. Easy to just jump from one to another and select something to examine and or alter.
Please do not mistake what I am saying. The 'Tabs' work as I want them to, no problems there, its just those anomilies that cause problems. I have only looked a 'Tab' operations at present. So I have given that a good work load.
To Recap:-
If I select an avi film in a 'Locked Tab (say 5th one along)' and Xyplorer exits that 'Locked Tab 5' and jumps back to the 1st 'Tab', surely thats not right?
If a 'Locked Tab' suddenly displays a different folder than set after opening another 'Tab' when another folder is selected elsewhere (not in that 'Locked Folder') then surely that not right either?
Thats all I am saying. Does that make any sence? I hope so.
All the best.

I can't reproduce, but maybe I'm not following the issue correctly. Maybe a step by step break down of what you are doing as described in the following line would help
I'm not sure what you mean when you say," XYplorer exits that 'Locked Tab 5'...", is that without any action on your part (e.g., mouse clicking or keyboard), and are you actually running the "avi" file after selecting it or just simply selecting it?theoldman wrote:If I select an avi film in a 'Locked Tab (say 5th one along)' and Xyplorer exits that 'Locked Tab 5' and jumps back to the 1st 'Tab', surely thats not right?

Hi.
I hope I can explain this better. Here goes.
If I am in a 'Tab' (5th one from left) and its listing shows film files, running a film from there (double left mouse click) sometimes does not run the film but exits the 'Tab' and opens the 1st 'Tab' in the 'Tab' row listing.
All the best.

No, this never happens here (and I don't see how it could possible happen). You say "sometimes", this makes it even weirder, of course.
Could it be that you accidentally dbl-click a folder instead of a file?

Re: Tabs - Jump when Locked and exit when item executed.
Occasionally I've double-clicked on a file (e.g., a video) and instead of running the video, XY plops me into the folder above. The reason is I wasn't careful to double-click directly on the filename and instead had clicked at least partially on some white space. In "Configuration" under "Mouse, Menu, Safety" there is a setting for double-click on white space takes you up a directory level so it is understandable, at least in my case. In your case you end up in another TAB. Does that tab happen to be up one level in the directory structure from the original tab?
