Adding items to Catalog behavior

    * Catalog: when adding a new item to a category while the category 
      itself is focused, this item is now added to the *top* (first 
      position) of the category's items, not to the bottom as before.

Don't known if this is in purpose or not, but either it feels weird to me: seems items are added to the TOP only when using context menu (Add ... Here); but when an item is dragged&dropped on the Category itself (from Tree/List), it's still being added to the bottom.

Not sure what is intended, but having new items added to top definitely seems weird to me! I'm so used to IE and Favorites where they are added at end, so having it added on top would mean I'd likely need to use drag-n-drop it so it goes at end...but in either case, I'll propbaly end up moving it up/down anyway, so maybe it doesn't matter that much.

Well, added to the top or bottom doesn't matter much to me I think, allthough I've gotten used to the bottom-way and having most recently added items on the bottom.
I understand why it's been changed to have them added on top, either that on have them put into view, and yeah maybe added on top is better; but my point was: seems inconsistent & "weird" to me that they're at times added on bottom, and at other times on top, especially since the reason they're added on top is, I think, also true when D&D (which adds to the bottom still)
So I just think it should be only one way, doesn't matter how items are being added.

Ctrl+Up/Down also moves items.

The only advantage I see is that one can spot the new item easier...so you can then move it, if desired, to "proper" location...but as this only applies when focus is on category, it shouldn't affect me/users that often...given that I'm most likely focused on the desired area that I want it to be in...but it still seems a bit inconsistent with typical lists where new items are almost always added at bottom.

It bugged me a bit in the last months that I had to scroll the catalog spot and position the newly added items. Now it's better. But now I also see a disadvantge of the new way: if you add new items one by one, their order is reversed in the catalog. Hm.

Please excuse me if this is stupid as I don't use the catalog (please someone write a tutorial as to why I should as I can't find a use fr it from my meagre clicking on it).

But why can't you just drag and drop into the correct place? Is that a bit of a bitch to code or something? I know this doesn't help the keyboard behaviour, but it would sort the mouse

I'd kinda call it a very personalized tree that contains only your desired entries...allows me to keep my Favorites (and some others) always on screen and available without having to use drop-downs to get there...and I can give entries a customized tooltip that helps describe what it is...

Hmm would be nice to have D&D a list item to position in catalog, but this can make an item go inside a folder in this case. I mean for eg. dragging item A from list and dropping next to folder B in catalog can infact place item A inside folder B. So a simple D&D can have two functions. Maybe Ctrl+ D&D or something else.
But right now D&D from list to catalog (only on categories) and then D&D again from catalog to new position is not that bad. or??

Can't be done, cause when D&D is possible with Catalog item it is fully possible just like on Tree/List, as in hold Ctrl to force Copy, Shift to force Move, ...
I think only Ctrl+Alt might still be available. Allthough thinking about this, I was wondering about having new menu items added to XY's Extended D&D menu when dropping on Catalog items, which would be "Add Here In Catalog", so once could add items right where he wants in one D&D operation only, using the right-D&D!

Yes, that would be possible, but there are so many ways already -- I don't want to pack every context menu with an overkill of items.

The coolest way to directly insert new items into a certain position:
(1) select the catalog/category position where you want to insert by ALT+Click (the ALT does prevent any action triggered by the click) or up/down arrow keys.
(2) open the context menu (by ctxmenu key or right-click)
(3) select "Add Selected List Item(s) Here"

Yeah sure, was just an idea. I myself usually use the right-click/Add Here anyways. BTW your first step (item/category selection) is only needed when using the keyboard, or else one can just right click where needed right away.
