Just realized that these two 'lists' are not available under List Management options! Wouldn't this be a logical thing to add to it? And then the ability to 'recolor' entries as one can do for "Color Filters" within Config?
And show the folder/branches using the related colors as done for CF so one can see what colors might be unused for the next entry? Presently one may end up assigning a color that has been used already and maybe you wanted a unique color for that Highlight...given that these can be unique, which I had missed before.. so this way, you could review the existing colors and pick one or find a new one...

Re: List Mgmt: Add Boxed Branch and Highlighted Folder?
Adding those 2 lists in LM might sound like a good idea yeah, but the recolor thing (that has to be a bit different, as it's the background color we're talking about here) isn't (yet) supported on LM.j_c_hallgren wrote:Just realized that these two 'lists' are not available under List Management options! I think the question is, should they really be added to LM, which is a "List" management tool; or should a "new interface" be added on the Config window (Colors tab), with those 2 lists and the ability to add/remove/recolor items.
Otherwise, why would Color Filters be on Config and not in LM ??

I'm not sure why the shouldn't be on LM, since Selection filters and Visual filters are...and they are not true 'lists' whereas Boxed/Highlight refer to specific entries which is more typical of a list to me...and the recolor is a clickable option on CF, so putting that on selected LM seems not an impossibility to me...jacky wrote:Otherwise, why would Color Filters be on Config and not in LM ??

What I meant was, LM only deals with "List", as in text items (whatever they represent), while there we're also dealing, for each item, with an associated color (aka it's not only a simple text list; or: in Editor mode you'd be missing the color part of that list (well, it could be added just like on the INI of course, but you got my point, hopefully))j_c_hallgren wrote:I'm not sure why the shouldn't be on LM, since Selection filters and Visual filters are...and they are not true 'lists' whereas Boxed/Highlight refer to specific entries which is more typical of a list to me...and the recolor is a clickable option on CF, so putting that on selected LM seems not an impossibility to me...
Regarding Color Filters, what I meant is: I would say it might be a bit confusing, and maybe useless in a way, to have Color Filters listed twice: on the Config window and on LM. Especially since it could mean double the work for Don.
Now, where should the Color Filters be defined, Config (like now) or in LM? Cause having them on Config while adding Boxed/Highlighted folders on LM sounds not very logical to me.
I'm not saying they shouldn't be added to LM, maybe they should so LM would be the place where all lists are dealt with, no matter what.
Would mean adding color support to LM (both back & fore depending on the lists) but also, what do we do in the Config window (since at least the option "Apply color filters" has to stay there, obviously.
Would it be possible, for example, to have a button "Open List Management for Color Filters" ?

Exactly. The Color Filters list is already existing where it belongs. More options will be added to it like the long planned availability of Color Filters for the tree view.jacky wrote:Regarding Color Filters, what I meant is: I would say it might be a bit confusing, and maybe useless in a way, to have Color Filters listed twice: on the Config window and on LM. LM is meant as an additional but not necessary tool. It does not add anything to the functionality of the program. It's more of a toy for control freaks.
As long as Boxed/Highlighted folders works only on specific individual folders (and not rule/pattern-based as Color Filters) I don't see a need for a summary/list interface.
Furthermore I have far more interesting ideas worth at least 3 years of code work. So, first things first!

Well, for me, I feel LM IS a necessary tool! That's why I've been begging for a Prev/Next ability as I use LM at least one per day generally...And it certainly does add a lot, IMO, to the functionality...although it doesn't do the function, keeping track of what 'options' you have defined or available is a function...as is keeping them organized in a logical manner which LM is great for!admin wrote:LM is meant as an additional but not necessary tool. And Favorite Folders, Favorite Files and History all work on specific entries and are part of LM so having Boxed/Highlighted would be consistent...at least to keep track of which ones are marked as such...yes, I can always review the INI, but that's brute-force and not user friendly like LM.
Glad the hear that you've got things in the pipeline...but thought this would be a small but worthwhile improvement...
