I have this problem also.
In other words, do not use XYPlorer for c:\windows work, use the native explorer.exe especially if you want to update the Hosts file.

Configuration > Shell Integration > 64-bit Windows > Show the real System32 directory checked

Fair enough. I am running 12.20.0400 which does not have that configuration option. I guess I should upgrade
