How about when row is both selected and focused and the selected and focused row colors are non-standard, that the row be split horizontally in the two colors...so, for example, the top half would be green and bottom half yellow...thus when you mode focus to another line, the line would then be all green for select and the focus line would be all yellow.
Selected row using highlight color instead of underline?

So..had another idea...
Yea...I'm still thinking, ok?

Hmmmmmm. Not sure if that would work, it could make reading the text quite hard.
How about if the Filename remains "selected" and the rest of the row becomes "focused"? So the filesize, extension, date etc...

hmm.. not really sure how it'd feel, but most important I'm not sure if it is (easilly) doable. If so, yeah why not.j_c_hallgren wrote:How about when row is both selected and focused and the selected and focused row colors are non-standard, that the row be split horizontally in the two colors...so, for example, the top half would be green and bottom half yellow...thus when you mode focus to another line, the line would then be all green for select and the focus line would be all yellow.
But chances are, if it's not then it won't happen. You can't have it all, you want the selected rows fully highlighted you gatto pay the price!
I really don't think it's a good idea, as it loose the whole concept of having selected rows highlighted!!How about if the Filename remains "selected" and the rest of the row becomes "focused"? So the filesize, extension, date etc...
Remember that (one of) the reason is to easilyl tell which rows are & are not only looking in the right-most columns, without having to follow back to le left-most/Name column. And focused isn't always selected, just like selected isn't always focused!

Actually, thinking about it, the other way round would work, ie. just the filename "cell" (the column of the row if you will) being focused and the rest of the row being selected or unselected. I'll show you in my picture and we can argue ver it then. Sometimes I hate words...

hmm... yeah, if Don can do it it could. (Allthough, would appear somewhat "weird" since right now the filenames are selected, and the rows are highlighted. When focused, no selection obviously and the row is highlighted.lukescammell wrote:Actually, thinking about it, the other way round would work, ie. just the filename "cell" (the column of the row if you will) being focused and the rest of the row being selected or unselected. This one would imply a case were a selected item is not "selected", but its row is highlighted in 2 different colors, one for the full row but one column, and one for that column.
Not sure if you get me, but it might look not so.. whather-the-word-is-I-cant-find-it

Someone somewhere wrote that using selected underline seemed like a bunch of divider lines, and I'm definitely in agreement with that...thus, I'd suggested using bold to distinguish the two states (focused/selected)...that would allow one to see it even when name field is not on screen due to scrolling...yes, I understand that could have some impact on column sizing, and may be some more work for Don, but I think it's still a viable idea...

Well, I don't think I'd like the bold thing. Especially because of the columns sizes. I've set up my columns to get as much space as I can where I need to, so my dates/sizes columns are exactly good to fit what they have to fit in, having some date bold on times would broke all thatj_c_hallgren wrote:Someone somewhere wrote that using selected underline seemed like a bunch of divider lines, and I'm definitely in agreement with that...thus, I'd suggested using bold to distinguish the two states (focused/selected)...that would allow one to see it even when name field is not on screen due to scrolling...yes, I understand that could have some impact on column sizing, and may be some more work for Don, but I think it's still a viable idea...
Besides, you don't like the underline, don't use it! That's why you can now have the full row being highlighted as you wanted to!!
(sure you can't tell which row is focused aswell then, but hey you can't have your cake and eat it

Unfortunately, I am looking for the double cake situation! Somewhere there is a non-underline but distinguishable solution waiting...just haven't found it yet!jacky wrote:Besides, you don't like the underline, don't use it! I may have found a color combo that seems to work for me (8)
Focus row = 80FF00 (A light green)
Select Row = EEEEEE (a light gray)
Both colors are available in picker...the gray in custom at bottom..
And I have "Full Row Select" off to avoid that ugly blue...
This makes selected rows quite visible yet not overkill on color, and the underline resulting from focus stands out (plus filename gets dotted box to help out) from both standard off-white background and grey for select.
