Find files with colors attribute

It would be also good to add color option in the find files.
Example:
>Lets say I assign a color RED to the office group i.e. .doc,.xls,.ppt etc
>then there shud be an option to see the corresponding hex code for RED color (somewhere next to color filter).
> the hex code can be used in the find files to search files by color.

ofcourse one can search with *.doc;*.ppt;*.xls critiria, but for me color search sounds cool.

Nice idea! j_c_hallgren will like it, because it's similar to his wish ( http://www.xyplorer.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=519 ) but more flexible.

Ok...but realize that MY wish addresses a somewhat different issue: When you either don't know or can't recall the exact extension you're looking for...so need the info that one cannot presently (to my knowledge) easily retrieve in XY...like..for example:

You wish to find "Windows Media playlist" files...in Win Expl search, i can use the "type" checkbox which then creates a pulldown menu where i can locate "Windows Media playlist" and select that...I don't have to know/recall that they are "ASX" type...but in XY, I need to look for ASX...or have set that as a color before...(which may be limited to a small subset for free users...so remember that too).

I can see where using a color search could allow one to look for MULTIPLE file types at one time, such as TXT, DOC, RTF so that option would be nice...but...I'd still say we need a cross-reference between extension and usage/meaning first.

Two things stop me from just doing it:
(1) I don't know a fast way to create such a list.
(2) The search would run considerably slower because retrieving the file type needs to call another not very speedy API.

1) Just because it may not be quite that fast shouldn't prevent the feature from being considered...it could be handled somewhat as Win Expl...that the list won't be created until/unless the user requests the list via a checkbox...the lack of a "translate table" has forced me on on occasion to have to revert back to Win Expl to do search or to get the approp extension....BTW, Win Expl isn't always that quick to create list either!!!

2) And it shouldn't affect the speed of search (in many cases) as once user locates the desired file type, that it would be converted back to a "*.XXX" style mask as if user had typed that in originally...that is, IF there is only ONE extension for that file type...just that user didn't know that "XXX" = "Files for XXX application", ok?

Now for multiple extensions for one file type, I'd be willing to trade a performance hit for the ability to preview file data and other features that XY uniquely provides!

Yep, I put it on my list.

But I would not like to add another filter tab just for it.

Possible would be to use the color filter definitions to fill the name filter accordingly (auto-fill it with the patterns used in the definitions, OR-combined). As a "filling service", just as j_c_hallgren suggested for file types remapped to extension(s).
However, the brand-new attribute filter would not work well here because find filters are AND-combined whereas color filters (separated by ";") are OR-combined: you cannot currently search for files that are "*.txt OR ReadOnly" (sounds not very real-wordly, or? ...but maybe that would be also a wish to make my list longer ).

So it's all not soooo thrilling...

Hmmm... yeah please have it in your list. I hope the day is not far when i will be able to search my drive with "FF0000" (Hex for red) instead of ":*.jpg | *.bmp | *.png | *.jpeg | *.gif" etc. I agree boolean logic is more flexible and we also have templates to do predetermined searches, just that Hex color codes sound fancier.

hex codes for color filters + option in find files for searching the codes = find by file type and more.
