Hi.
I am a newbie and just had a dig into XYplorer. Very good indeed and fast, to say the least. Windows7 really killed the XP Explorer when it was re-vamped or what ever. I do not know anyone who like it. So this program is a 'must'.
May I make a few constructive suggestions on the program.
a) Tabs. If you, like me, have various named DeskTop folders containing shortcuts to favorite games, utilities, converters and such, then they in themselves would have their own display settings, like all Icons, Thumbnails, lists etc.
It would be very nice indeed to have a separate line of 'Tabs' under the normal line, where you could set them with shortcuts to those folders and lock them. Only the contents are selectable with no jump to create working Tabs etc.
At any time, instead of exiting or dropping XYplorer down so as to select a specific folder, you have them sitting there ready for quick use.
And finally..
b). When on a clear area of a XYplorer Tree listing or within a folder, when you right mouse click and select 'New' , you get file options. However, unlike Windows Explorer/My Document/My Computer, you do not get the other vendors product selections, like WinRars 'Create WinRar Archive' or 'WinRar Zip Archive' and so on. It would be nice to see vendors selections also included in that selection.
All the best.

I think maybe the catalog will do exactly what you want to do. It allows you to have files and/or folders available at the click of a button, including deciding whether to open the folder, go to the file's directory, run the file, etc -- VERY powerful!theoldman wrote:a) Tabs. I hope this helps!

Hi. I already set things up but no setting are kept. If you setup one folder to display icons, and the go to a folder that you want as 'detailed' listings, you will not have that. The previous setting of 'icons' hold 'true' for that folder. Change back to that the previous folder and now you have a 'Detailed' listing and not 'Icons'. Even when you opt to have selections 'remembered'. So, either having individual 'Tabs' settings saved or having dedicated 'Tabs' for common usage is the only solution. I have not been able to have different TABS with different settings. I have had to change the view every time. Its quite frustrating. I am at home 24/7 with some very serious health issues. The only thing I can do between rest is on the computer. Guess I do more than most. Its all I have left. Maybe most people do not really need that facility, but it would be nice for people like me, just a 'wish'.
All the best.
All the best.

A belated "Hi and welcome to XY forums!" first...
Have you looked at FVS (see http://www.xyplorer.com/tour/index.php?page=fvs)? I don't use it myself because I use details view 99.8% of time on all folders...
And http://www.xyplorer.com/faq-topic.php?id=ctx64 may apply to your original "b)" query...there are also some setting in Config that relate to that type of stuff...

Hi.
First, thank you for the welcome. Its nice to be here.
Now, on reading your post, the first link you gave is right, but why setup each and every tab?
Am I reading this correctly. Each 'Tab' has its own User setting selection for display and so on?
If so, would it not be easier just to right click and select what you need and it was saved always automatically until you did something else and then that was saved. Why all the User selections on how to save? Surely, what is selected is as it should be.
It seems a lot to do with something that should be done as simply as default. may be I have got it wrong.
All the best.

You're welcome! We try to be a friendly group -- as long as people do some research first..theoldman wrote:Hi.

Not per tab, but per desired folder using FVS...doesn't matter which tab is used to display it.Now, on reading your post, the first link you gave is right, but why setup each and every tab?
