More optimal autosizing of columns?

Post by TheQwerty »

I vaguely recall this being discussed before but I'm not having luck finding a solution.

I use the symbol coloring style in the label column, which means that for me the optimal width of the label column is its minimum width (~18px).

I also use autosize columns - see where this is going?

The end result is XY continually makes the label column wide enough to show the full header (~50px) and I'd prefer it only worry about fitting the content.

Anyone have suggestions to minimize this struggle?
Beyond changing at least one of those two settings... ;)

Same issue here, very frustrating. I do not want to play with column width, XY certainly has the information it needs to resize columns without giving me "...". :!:

I just want the columns to be at maximum width always. If anyone can help please let me know.

It was like this a long time, but then users voted for always showing the full column headers (added in v6.00.0000 - 2007-05-06 23:33).

But in this particular case I'm with you. Improvement coming...

I want the columns to fill the open space horizontally. Any way to do this?

No, and there are no plans for this.

Whenever you say things like this I have to go search to see if I was involved in convincing you to make that change and am now arguing with my past-self.

Fortunately, I'm not finding a thread about this particular change so maybe I'm off the hook. ;)

EDIT: That said this change is a nice improvement so if it was past-me... he is a real moron! :P
