I know of only 1 way to add icon overlay using SVN. That's not portable at all.
Is there any other way?
You manually tweak xyplorer.ini to get thumbnail 16x16?

Please include the following information:
1) Your XYplorer Version (e.g., v28.00.0801)
2) Your Windows Version (e.g., Win 11)
3) Your Screen Scaling Percentage (e.g., 125%).
We recommend adding your Windows Version and Screen Scaling Percentage to the Location field in your Profile or to your Signature. That way, you only have to type them once.
When attaching an Image, please use the Attachment tab at the bottom of your post and click "Add files".

Yes, in your ini file: go to section Thumbs and add 16 to the Thumbsizes list.binocular222 wrote:I know of only 1 way to add icon overlay using SVN. That's not portable at all.

Then change Width and Height to 16.
I am sure you know the restart without saving part.
Oh, and i don't know much about overlays, never needed one so far.

Re: Thumb overlays icons
As XYplorer create thumbnail by itself, is it possible to edit these <xydata>\thumbnails so that I can add some overlay indicators over files? Can it be a native XYplorer's feature?
I ask this because IMO, overlays are very useful:
- Visually easier to view (a tick mark is better than a "completed" tag or a greenish label)
- Does not require additional column (thus save a lot of screen space)

No worries!admin wrote:Thumbs column is leftmost, sorry.
Re: Thumb overlays icons
I do not believe it is possible to get true icon overlays while being 100% portable since they are provided by shell extensions and thus have to be registered in the registry so that explorer knows to load their DLLs.binocular222 wrote:I know of only 1 way to add icon overlay using SVN. Maybe version 2 of Custom File Icons will include a flag that allows the user to define multiple icons that will be overlayed when both match? Similar to how color filters that only change text or background can be merged.
Re: Thumb overlays icons
How do you show Google Drive status icons? In Windows Explorer (Windows 7 Pro), the icons "Fully Synced", "Still Syncing", "Not able to sync" appear like normal (on both files and folders).
https://support.google.com/drive/answer/2374992?hl=en
In XY, for files, the icon overlay do not show (seems to be Google Drive Status overlay only), the file application icon and file system overlays (ex. shortcut) appear like normal, there is also a locked icon (I'm not sure what program it is from). The locked icon does NOT match the Windows Explorer status (not on all or the same files).
In XY, for folders, the Google Drive Status overlay do not show, and no locked overlays. Strangely, the Google Drive "triangle" icon does show on its root folder.
I use Google Drive only a real-time backup. Although there are some Google Docs files, 99% are non-Google user files (pdf, doc, programming, ...)
Since Google Drive is rather finicky and no force resync button, status is important. (I had some files and folder stop syncing for no known reason).
P.S. XY is grrrrrrreat!

Re: Thumb overlays icons
Hmm,weird, XY just shows the overlays it gets from Windows. Cannot explain the differences.

Re: Thumb overlays icons
Keep in mind that overlay icons are provided by shell extensions and therefore XY can only use those that come from 32-bit handlers.
This also means that there are two possible lists of overlays in the registry.
Handlers of the native bitness (used by XY on 32-bit OSes):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers
Handlers providing 32-bit on 64-bit OSes (used by XY on 64-bit OSes):
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\explorer\ShellIconOverlayIdentifiers
If Google Drive does not include a 32-bit handler, does not register a 32-bit handler, or there are too many other overlay icons registered before theirs on the Wow6432Node path then its icons will not show in XY.
