you can reverse order within the seperate folders.
It was one of the things I learned from testing ready for creating the tute.
I don't think Don was asking what it did, but rather why you felt it was needed, ok? What benefit does doing that have compared to not doing so in the final scheme of things, etc...
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

...I challenge them to do so...
A few things, that I find usefull.

When recording with ActivePresenter, use the Full Motion Recording (FMR) option. It requires a bit more editing, but I think the result is smoother.

Record in 16:9. YouTube loves it.
I got a fresh portable copy of XYplorer, adjusted the windows size to 1280x720, and recorded the full window. I think it gives a decent result.

I've attached the intro/outtro pictures in 1280x720 px. if anyone want to use them. The font is Calibri.

I know what it does but in your movie it seems to do nothing since ascending is the default sort order for "Name". Your click is not necessary.

ADD: whoops, I just saw that j_c_hallgren already replied on the next page of the topic.

Another comment to that Branch View video: I just tried applying Branch View to a fresh installation and it works as desired out of the box: path column at the left, sorted primary by path, secondary by name. So all it takes is pressing the Branch View button, the rest is already there.

So -- just a suggestion of course -- it might more interesting to show what you can do with branch view: move files around between folders and see the new branch structure in realtime.

I have now deleted problem branch view tute.
Had uploaded another after regmos suggestion on aspect ratio.
found to be better quality but altered to 960x540 window with auto panning.
Also converted from avi to mov for a smaller size to upload no degradation
noticeable. Have now deleted that one as well so that I can start afresh.
May take a couple of days to get round to attempt so if anyone cares to....

Strange coincidence was trying to think clearly and mind wandered how many languages would have to
have their own vids.

I have redone branch view according to what you said but felt it was "weak".
Had a rethink and realised what was missing.
If you look at it from a noob with setup "out of the box" you aren't learning all
features available.
If you look at it from a noob who has played with it and is now trying to get back to
"out of the box" also lost.
What about the long time user who hasn't used a certain feature within Branch View but has in past
decided that they did not need path on left side and found they forgot how to move or had it hidden.

So I have tagged on the end the new clip.
here is the new link and also Zip Support.

OK, I'm from Cologne. This means I'm rude and naughty. So: I still don't see why you show "Configuration | Sort and Rename | Sort | Mixed sort on path columns" This is enabled by default and why should anybody disable it, especially a noob? I think all videos should come from virgin state, well as virgin as possible to show what has to be shown. :ugeek:

More general response: I'm beginning to regret the "video by users" thing. I simply have no time for it! :|

Of course I feel bad and guilty now, because you obviously put a lot of effort in it, and I thank you for it! :appl:

So, for now, let's stop the video thing, unless somebody here has a splendid idea about how to ensure quality and consistency without taking away my time from coding.

Beautiful, viking! What I especially like about it is that your setup looks exactly like mine. So I let you break the rules.

Added it to "Selection Filter" on the features list. Took the screencast link this time because it looks so much better than youtube.

Yes it does, but I only have 2 GB of bandwitch/month, so YouTube is more reliable.

Ah, pity, so I'll change it. It's even too much for my own account so I cannot host them either. :(

Yeah, it's a shame. The quality is exellent. They don't mess aroung with your videoes, and resize them in weird ways.
I had a Pro account ($99.95/year, 25GB storage, 200GB bandwidth/month) once. I don't have the need for it anymore, but I miss the way I could customize it
Kind regards

I think for software videos, animated gifs would be the perfect choice (MUCH smaller and perfectly clear), IF they could be paused and continued when played in a web browser.

I know that it's flash but instead of capturing a "video" of the desktop, rather it uses a bunch of screenshots that are tied together (well, that's what videos are but I hope you're getting what I'm trying to say. basically while video are usually 30-60 fps, it's up to you in Wink) so it's very similar to animated gifs. The benefit is that you can pause and play while the output should be smaller than standard video screencasts.

Another tool added to XYplorer's repository of tools that can be used to make screencasts.
