And is it repeatable at will and does it already happen already on the first drag after startup of XY?

Yes and yes. Repeatable and happens on first drag and drop as well.

Yeah. It's a mystery problem. Can't figure out why it starts showing up in 12.90.0004. Anything before it was fine.

EDIT: I'm assuming it probably had something to do with

Code: Select all

! Outlook: Could not paste attachments with Unicode characters in
      the filename. Fixed.
! Outlook Drop: Tried to fix an error with dropping unicode
      attachments.
which caused funny issues on some XP computers.

No, I already checked that. These changes only concern the drop, whereas the bug has been reported to come at the drag moment.

I can confirm that XYPlorer crashes on XP system when dragging an object from one window to another. For example, from list to catalog.

It crash not right at the moment when we drag it but rather the moment we drag it over to something we were going to drop it onto. Basically, drag it around with no destination does not crash it. Right at the moment when we drag it onto another folder with intention of dropping it, it crash. Same thing when I dragged it onto the catalog. It does not crash when I'm just dragging it all over the screen but once I put it over the catalog and stall for a little, it crash.

It's definitely an interesting issue.

Looks like it's the moment when the mouse cursor changes. But still I don't see anything suspicious. Maybe all of you installed some evil mouse cursor changing software recently?

Yes, atleast that's what i concluded yesterday after some testing. I will do some more tests tomorrow (including restarting PC etc) and confirm this for sure.
So, tested again (after reboot etc) and it does always crash on 0004 and 0003. Also crashes on today's version 0006.
Made a quick video, kind of low quality but you can see what's going on.
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2v2gkd0 ... jdTiNKoqxr
In the video there are two XYs running, the one on top is v0003 and D&D from one pane to another is fine, if i do the same in the bottom XY which is v0004 i get an error.
Again this is XP SP3.
Just saw from your video that you are in Windows Classic theme. Could that be a factor?

I'm using the normal Windows XP styling and I still get the error. What an annoying problem. XYplorer is practically unusable on this computer now. And no there is no software on the computer that affects drag and drop behavior of the program. Besides, why would the program not affect 12.90.0000 and below? It's an interesting problem so I'm going to have more fun finding out what could possibly be the problem.

Do you have any other system that runs XP SP3? Perhaps try them on it? Or even start a new Virtual system and test it in there?

EDIT: Just wondering but could it be possible if you made a build that is based on the most recent beta version you have right now but did not have the changes made for v12.80.0004? Specifically I really want to make sure it's not any changes in this specific build that started this whole problem. We could then test that.

No, I don't. All changes between 0003 and 0004 known to me (and I datestamp everything I do so I should know all) I have checked several times now, there is nothing suspicious.

Is it the same with left and right drag?

Could you set this tweak (yep, you can set it via scripting):

Code: Select all

tweak("simpledrag", 1); // on
and then try to drag?

Did that, still happens on v12.90.0010.
Will upgrade to next and report back.
