Drag and drop crash with 12.90.0004

Post by serendipity »

Dragging a folder from first pane and dropping onto a folder on the second pane crashes XY with 12.90.0004. Back to 0003 and all fine. Anybody else?

Hmm don't know. Same with /fresh switch. The moment i start a drag i get XYplorer has encountered... message. and I have to kill it from task manager.
I will try on another PC and report back. btw, this was on on XP SP3.

OK, tested on 2 PCs running Win7 and no problems, so could it be a XP thing? Can check on XP PCs at work tomorrow, unless someone with XP can check today.

You are absolutely sure that 0003 works and 0004 does not?

Yes, atleast that's what i concluded yesterday after some testing. I will do some more tests tomorrow (including restarting PC etc) and confirm this for sure.

So, tested again (after reboot etc) and it does always crash on 0004 and 0003. Also crashes on today's version 0006.
Made a quick video, kind of low quality but you can see what's going on.
http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=2v2gkd0 ... jdTiNKoqxr
In the video there are two XYs running, the one on top is v0003 and D&D from one pane to another is fine, if i do the same in the bottom XY which is v0004 i get an error.
Again this is XP SP3.

Hmm, must be something with your system. Any new shell extensions maybe?

Got a chance to test on another XP SP3 and it seems fine. So it's definitely my other PC. No idea what might be different in 0003 vs 0004 that makes this crash.

So 0004 and following crash in the moment you start dragging a folder (not a file) from the list (not the tree)?

Yes 0004 and later does still crash. Happens on files and folders and also on tree. But not when dragging items in catalog or in customize toolbar button or your other draggable controls like list management items.

Yes, baffles me too! But since it's only this particular XP PC i wouldn't worry too much about it.

Irritatingly another user now reports (email) crashes on drag from 12.90.0001 onwards. So that makes two. Anybody else gets crashes on drag?

And a question: is it repeatable at will and does it already happen on the first drag after startup of XY?

Haha I'm trying to figure it out as well. 12.90.0000 was working perfectly but 12.90.0005+ keep on crashing on drag and drop and the same for drag and drop to catalog. Currently waiting for Marco since he has the other versions between 12.90.0005 and 12.90 to see exactly when it started appearing. These problems are only on XP SP3 for some reason as well.

It seems that right when you're about to compile towards the dreaded version 13.00, all of this happens.

EDIT: Yes. The problem starts from 12.90.0004 and after. And as said before, problem only occurs on XP SP3. Vista and 7 works perfectly.
