I think I can. I'll check later... I will also try to add "Paste Into Zip" to a ZIP's context menu.

Excellent -- those will both be very useful!

Thanks again!

Would be great.
But to keep the true sense of portability, a custom archiving tool would be better. This would allow to use portable archiving tool as well.

I agree with the "can of worms" analogy.

XYplorer dev has put much effort into portable file icons, portable file extensions, maybe it's time for a portable shell menu.
Then users can easily build their own menus using those portable programs, such as 7zip for example, and keep XY simple and power minus the bloat.

BTW, this new zip feature does not work for me, it just creates empty directories on archive and extract. Hopefully, if implemented, there will be an option to remove this from XY's context menu as I can easily create my own archive tools using the catalog or through XY's powerful scripting.

However, the ability to preview archives (not just zips, I don't use zip, only 7z and rar) would be a welcomed feature.
I want XY to serve soft ice cream. Please Don, make XY serve soft ice cream.

You can do that already now using the "Open With..." command in the XYplorer custom section at the top of the shell context menu. "Open With..." opens the POM (Portable Openwith Menu) which has full scripting support.

 Oh. Anybody else?

Pure preview would be possible for those formats, but without the possibility of extraction it will mean trouble (for the user and me).

it seem to work partly= i managed to extract with right-drag, but coldn't create from clipboard. yet, i can't see entry in context to extract|create..

preview for those formats would be wonderful!! for extract i have WinRAR, but opening each time is so looong.

You mean opening a RAR file takes looong? Not here. And I never said I can read the contents of RAR faster than RAR itself.

example= i have 20+ rar and have to open each to just see what is in there -maybe it's not really long, but very fast it becomes boring. if you do, preview for archives would be a great feature!. ofcourse there will appeare users asking for extract, but that can wait for later.

Ah, got it. :)

The main trouble with the preview is the following: I currently have no list with columns/headers. :om:  The main file list is too heavy and not really re-usable because it is optimized for the job it does. And my small list, well it has no columns/headers yet. Of course, I can write it but it is boring and takes time to reach perfection (resize, sorting, blah). :blackstorm: All this is because I do not use MS standard controls in XY: all controls are written by myself -- because I'm a control freak, LOL. So I have to wait until I feel like doing this boring thing... ultimately it will be worth it because I could use some columns in other lists in XY as well.

+1! (Indication that it contains exclusively one folder on the top level.)

Ehmm, while you wait, and since the general direction is away from the main file list to a smart small list, why not an intermediate solution: a plain contents dump in some edit/string list component.
