Go to Applic folder goes to C:\ on 5.20.19?
Just installed 5.20.19...and wanted to check on my thumbnail files, so used "Go To Applic Folder"...and all it did was go to "C:\" and not C:\Program Files\XYplorer like I'm sure it used to...I went to XY folder and then tried same "Go To A - F" and it went back to C:\...hummm?
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!

The only prior vers I have here is 5.20.00 and just tried it...it works fine, and seem to recall it working as recently as 17...skipped 18, but on 19, on W2K sys, it doesn't work correctly here...
Update: Weirdest thing happened! Now it works again!
All I did was go back to prior vers and then back to current...
(I had exited XY 19 and restarted it and same odd behavior occured, before I tried the 00 vers)

I can't explain it...I've never executed XY from just C:\...and in this case, it was from normal PF\XY folder...and it happened more than once, even with an exit/restart...only cleared up after using another vers in the interim...I'm confused..
Oh well...works now...so

Well, I'm still confused about this!
Have yet to figure out the pattern but after installing 038 beta, and letting the install start XY, it happened again! Showed as starting from C:\ so goes there instead of C:\Program Files\XYplorer, yet I have no files or shortcuts directly in C:\ root that relate to XY and never run from there that I'm aware of...
I have "save settings on exit" and use Alt+F4 to quit XY prior to installing release, and any other time also...I have the beta zip in C:\Downloads and run the EXE directly from/within WinZip by clicking on it...any other pertinent info I've omitted?

So WinZip uses your C:\root as temp unpack folder.j_c_hallgren wrote:Well, I'm still confused about this!![]()

Nope! I checked while XYsetup/install is still active but not completely finished...there are NO files related to XY in C:\ at that time...the temp folder that contains the unpacked EXE file is "C:\Documents and Settings\Hallgren\Local Settings\Temp" so....still
Update: Extracted the EXE file into C:\DOWNLOADS and then ran that from there...same result, in that "Go To Appl Folder" gets me to C:\ and not C:\Program Files\XYplorer after executing XY via the final screen of install dialog....when I run XY via my normal shortcut, it works correctly...so seems that it's somewhat related to install dialog execution.
I've saved the INI files immediately upon start from both the working and non-working runs...compared them and NO differences found...FYI: Variables StartPath, LookIn0 and C2 are all set to C:\DOWNLOADS in these INI files.

Took me about 15 min to find this old thread, so as not to start new one...
Anyway, this issue is still affecting me...
My current process is:
1) Open zip directly from forum link instead of saving it here
2) Extract EXE to C:\DOWNLOADS
3) Close XY
4) Click on and run EXE to re-install XY from C:\DOWNLOADS
5) Let "install" open XY at completion
When I then use the "go to appl folder", it goes to "C:\" only...
I have to close XY and restart via Start or shortcut to get it working properly...
