Solution for the lost area in 'Details with thumbnails' view

Post by noutters »

:!: In the view style 'details with thumbnails', a lot of area is lost in the List view for the files that are not image files

 What we need is a preview of the image files, other files should behave like in a regular view + an empty 'Thumbs' column.

:?: What do you think?

Do I understand correctly that you mean vertical empty space?

As when I have "details with 54x54 thumbs" on, I only get 11 entries per 'page' whereas in "details" mode, I get 36 entries on 'page'.

Not sure if it would technically be possible to have mixed height entries on a page, but yes, it would make working with mixed usage folders easier, as in some cases, I have maybe 5%-20% of files that are images and it makes the list so lengthy when not really needed!
Still spending WAY TOO much time here! But it's such a pleasure helping XY be a treasure!
(XP on laptop with touchpad and thus NO mouse!) Using latest beta vers when possible.

Technically yes, logistically no. First things first!

Use a Visual Filter to show only pics.

That's fine if one only needs/wants to work with selected files, but in my case, I'd typically need to work with all files in the folder as they are often related...so seeing a subset would not solve the problem, but create another one...
